Hi guys,
January and February got a bunch of hot announcements that the old Lone Star ammunition plant in Texas would be hosting a primer production facility and come online within a year.
Latest press release I could find was from April, since then it has been suspiciously quiet.
Anyone got...
Anyone ever tried this little operation? An arrow or two are starting to veer off course regularly and the only thing that is messed up on them are the vanes. So refletching sounds like a necessity......
Big question now - which fletching rig works with flat nocks.
Oh, and what size vanes...
Hi everyone,
just wanted to let you know that the Baltimore Rifle Club is hosting its first open match in a loooong time this coming Saturday.
The basics:
- Any .22 Rimfire
- 50 yds
- 25 rounds scored, 5 sighters
- shot from a seating position with the rifle not touching the table...
OK, so I bit the bullet, played nice and ordered three chinese Type53 mosins. One for me, two for fellow collectors who wanted to have one as well and we wanted to take advantage of a rather lower shipping price.
Result:
Rifle 1: mine
Rifle 2: Well, I don't have any money at the moment...
Hey, anyone here reloading for the 45-70 got any pet loads? It is such a great round but unfortunately I see few people reloading for it. Might be due to the recoil but still...
My personal loads are listed below. Please do replicate without the appropriate caution and only after consulting...
OK, another rant about opticsplanet.com
Ordered an inexpensive scope (Simmons 3-9x40 open box) for a rimfire build from them and sent the payment via paypal. I get the usual "order recieved" confirmation...
Next day I find a message from "risk management" in my email, saying that the order...
Seems like the Italians came up with a more modern way of hitting birds way out there. Instead of a single shot cup they are using a system of two cups, one of them inverted, that is supposed to keep part of the shot column together up to 80m and then disperse. The idea is to form a second shot...
Just had the ejector on my SxS shotgun break during trap. Unfortunately, that thing is WAY out of warranty.... talk about a 1927 Belgium made cheap shotgun.
Anyone got an idea where to find a replacement part for that?
Due to negligence of my reloading gear, I just ran out of sizing lube and the new stuff won't be in for some time - so I thought I might just use something else.
Well, for some other unknown reason, I still had a sample pack of a silicone based lubricant from the supplier "swiss navy" sitting...
Seems like Wideners has those two in stock and at quite a reasonable price.... and there are people in VA that I visit often enough to store them.
That's what I am talking about
Unfortunately I can't find any reference powder for SMP 844 and 846 - does anyone have an idea what the closest...
Well, been going through my stuff during the storm and have the following to give away:
- Lyman Handbook, 49th edition.
You must be new to reloading or interested in starting it and have at least 50 posts to participate.
Winner will be selected on Wednesday by [rnd] function.
Just called the range but noone picking up.... anyone knows if they are open today?
And yes, shooting right before a hurricane IS a sensible passtime ;)
Well, last night I had a few crows above my car and thus decided to get back at their species in general....
Any recommended decoys? I have come across the ones from boondock and a bunch of other ones that are more or less realistic.... starting from black socks stuffed with something up to...
Hey guys, this is a serious problem or at least has the chance to end up in one, so please no joking.
I happen to work in Baltimore in a rather larger complex. About a week ago, I was approached by one of a pair of youth (lanky, about 14 years old) while on my way home. He proceeded to say...
Hey guys,
since I am a little bit bored and a few friends of mine as well, I have been talking to the DNR officer who is in charge of nutria control, wondering if we could find ourselves a spot to bag some of these rodents. Apparently there are currently no populations on the western shore...
Was going to get myself a can of that for reduced loads in .357 with either 125 or 150gr cast bullets. True, that is more of a .38 spec load but it is doing what is supposed to do and making holes in paper.
Anyone tried true blue in a rather weak load? Is the powder still burning clean or...
OK, here the good question. What exactly happens with compressed trail boss loads?
Everyone keeps telling that it is not a good idea but are they just echoing what they heard or is there any hard data on what happens? Is there just a weird random increase in pressure, does it go up...
OK, this is a serious-no-fun part of shooting. You buy ammo, you put it in a working gun and the first two shots are a complete failure.
These 2 rounds were fired in a Turkish Mauser. They were kicking stronger than expected. First one was hard to open the bolt on afterwards, primer was...
Ok, it appears as this year, christmas is coming early - and in "some assembly required".
Part of the assembly process will be rebluing. Can't do hot blue to an SxS so I need a good recommendation for a cold blue. The stuff that I was using some time back for refinishing air rifles is...
