No one was down range, everyone was back and talking. There are a few times handling a weapon during a cold is acceptable.
I would disagree with this. There’s a reason why the line is called cold, so that nobody is touching a firearm….period. Then there is no chance one will go off.

If the range is cold guns down breaches open and pointing down range simple rules to follow. If someone was dicking with their gun cycling, and not following the rules they need to leave the range. Yes, some can be overzealous however, it only takes one round to kill someone. Not being on the same page is how people get killed. Then the range will be shut down forever screwing it up it for everyone else. I shoot there all the time and there are idiots who deserve to get their butts reamed and I have been the reamer at times. One time the range was really busy, and people were waiting for a slot. I got there at 9:15 and some butt heads refused to leave after an hour as the rules say. I called them out they told me it was none of my business. So, I called my Ranger buddy, and they were escorted off the range. They were also told if they do not follow the rules they could be banned.

You and I can disagree about this. And that is ok but know if you scream at me while I am doing something that is safe but you don’t like, i will just tell you where to go since you have no more authority on the range then i do.

I'm an NRA certified RSO and if I call the range cold you better not be handling a firearm of any type even if no one is down range. A cold range means no handling period. I don't care if you think it's safe. I will ask you to leave the range if you can't abide by the rules.

No one was cycling any ammo. A gun range has its dangers, an accidental discharge can happen any time or a weapon could blow up With out any warning and people get hurt. Someone could knock a loaded weapon off the bench and it go off and hit someone. A person loading a magazine, putting away or taking out a weapon, cleaning a fired muzzle loader or swapping out barrels add no more danger. If you talking about trying to clear a live round or loading a fixed magazine or cylinder then I agree. Me swaping the barrel on my contender is no danger to anyone. Someone swapping the ar15 upper with a different caliber is no danger to anyone. If you come over to me telling me what you think I should be doing I will definitely not be nice to you. there is the hour wait while people are waiting but if someone keeps calling old and the range does it normal 10 minutes of chatter before going hot again, the person may not have actually had a full hour of shooting time and was not able to complete his task, how do you know he was not trying to sight in for a up coming hunting trip and that was his only time he could get to sight in his rifle, maybe he was getting ready for a qualifying and needed the time.
with the way you are talking I am sure it was right at an hour when you said something to him And that annoyed him, i Am also sure there where others there as long or longer then he was, did you go and tell them they had to go and get at the end of the line and wait their turn again? If you didn’t go and tell everyone their time was up then he had every right to tell you to mind your business, you have no authority over any one but yourself! They only way you got your was was to go crying to your ranger friend just like a Karen.

sorry to break the news to you Karen your rso certificate has no merit at Myrtle Grove. You and the rest of the self proclaimed rso have no authority to tell anyone to leave. Unless what someone is doing is posing an real and immediate danger to you then you just mind your own busness. But it sounds like you are incapable of doing that.

This tread has really exposed a lot of range Karen’s and self appointed range officers. I guess some people don’t know how to mind their own business.

What anyone does at a shooting range is everyone's business. Some of your responses make you sound like a hot head that is completely immune to respectful advice.

No one knows what you are doing or if what you are doing is safe.

    Don't do that. :nono:

    The guy was a d!ck.

    He was not wrong.
The guy was 100% wrong, in not minding his own business and how he reacted to it. If you don’t like what someone is doing you are free to leave and come back a different day. Many people tat go there are very well versed in firearm handling and know what is safe and what isn’t. There is just as much of a chance of someone getting shot while taking out or putting a weapon away when the range is hot as you do when it is cold. As I said I agree people should not be clearing a jammed weapon or loading a fixed magazine or cylinder or putting a round in the chamber but there are lots of things that need to be done with a weapon that is 100% safe to do while cold.

Only if it is truly an immediate danger to someone. This Karen was not respectful to anyone was there for his own ego. And a lot of others response show they are the same kind of person.

Sometimes a ‘dick’ is right. If you’re touching a firearm when the range is cold & I am down range it is my business.
being a dick right off is never right. All he did was make himself look like an ass and turned everyone off to listen to anything he has to say
