Both very informative, Thanks JPG and 308 Scout. They graph doesn't tell the story I would expect but the percentage breakdown does. Bet I can guess how the lowest 4 counties in percentage voted. OTOH, I bet the libs in Annapolis will cite the bar graph slide and say too many guns going into areas that already have high gun crime. Let the spin begin.

I think the numbers are low because many folks don't know that they can get one or how easy it is.

I know many hunters that don't shoot targets and don't hang out on gun forums. The ones I have told that they could get a CCW jumped on it.

Define easy? Was it possible? Yes.

Easy would be the PA system. Pay $21, make an appointment, walk out with a permit after the background check. I know a couple of people who weren't aware who did go to get permits after they found out. I also know some people who haven't bothered because they don't have the time in their life to spend 16hrs on the class. One a working single mom of one who had a permit in NC, who'd like a permit here. However, she is an executive at a federal agency and works like 50+ hours a week, plus parenting and what not, she just doesn't have the personal time to basically take off two days from work to invest into a permit. She doesn't feel she HAS to get a permit. Just a nice to have. If there was a need, rather than a desire, she'd make the time.

I think if this was dropped to a 4hr class, or no class at all, I think those numbers would be a solid 2-3x higher. As it stands, I think those numbers will stand up the next couple of years, with some slow down. I think 2023 we will probably see another ~100k get permits. Probably in 2024 also. Then I think it'll slow down a lot unless requirements are reduced.

Some matters on what restrictions on where we can carry are, and if those have been rolled back. If MGA slaps effectively a ban on carry, I don't see a lot of people going through the hoops. Though I suspect those will get rolled back quickly.

I’m a progressive from MoCo who wants to leave MoCo because of their paternalistic laws and high taxes, but I want to stay in Maryland because it is a safe space for me to express myself.

I intend to vote blue no matter who and then feel morally superior to everyone because I did my part to make the world a better place. That’s it, that’s all I do for my fellow man: vote democrat. No volunteering, not charitable giving, nada.

I’ve heard good things about Carroll County, why don’t you think it’s nice? Based on what I’ve said can you please recommend where you think I should go?
