Finally got around to taking pictures of the one I got. Not the prettiest one in the world, but seems to have its original finish.

The holster looks like it’s dated 1987 and has a name in it.

You know it's an obscure name when Google draws a blank.

Eeiz is found in Egypt and Nigeria btw

Interesting. Must’ve been from an immigrant to France if these came from there.

I’m sure a lot of these are in Africa. Oddly enough I recently saw a picture of a PA1950 being used in the Ivory Coast by some kind of military group.

Have a friend who's a member of the Gendarme in France and he verified that the export of Mle 1950s did indeed come from there. This in spite of France being a signatory to UN small arms anti-proliferation treaties that not only stopped export of MAS 49s in the past but led to their destruction. He reminded me that France had also exported a batch of British No 4 rifles (remember that small batch, advertised as having been air dropped to the Maquis?). They also allowed the export of the FR F2 sniper rifles which I also forgot about. So apparently they're OK with releasing tiny amounts of small arms, UN be damned. Which is OK with me!
