I think that authorities should report if the guns used in a homicide were obtained legally. This information would be relevant in deciding how effective the new gun laws have, or have not, been in reducing homicides in the state. If nothing else it could be reported in the news and enable the citizens to draw their own conclusions about the effectiveness of SB281.

    I like this idea.

I suppose a study could be done from existing records to determine the number of legal firearms used in homicides.

They breed much quicker than they can kill themselves off.

Birthrate in Baltimore is about 10,000 a year. http://www.baltimorehealth.org/info/HSR/GeneralFertilityRate.pdf

There's approximately one murder per day in Baltimore (around 300 per year); and contrary to our represenatives who passed SB281, the majority of them were killed with hands, feet, clubs, knives and illegal handguns. But there are 45 specific rifles now banned in Maryland, and approximately 150 total that could fall under the new definition of 'copy cat' 'assault weapon'.
We must vote these bums out.

They have released data similar to this. I think it went as far as saying something like 2% of guns used in shootings in the city were identified.

If only 2% are identified, some smaller fraction are the ones obtained legally.

Pretty sure this was brought up in the legislature last year, but ... facts don't matter. It isn't about facts or logic ... its about emotion and politics
