Have you chronographed those? I've got 500gr Hornaday XTP arriving tomorrow, but probably won't begin loading until mid next week. Put the rifle together last night though :party29:

What load are you planning to use with those?

Na... Just leave about an inch gap between the stock and your shoulder to absorb the recoil. ;)

    Just kidding. :innocent0

That's an evil suggestion..., I like it.

FWIW, when the standard upper got to me, there was no brake on it - shot it that way for a brief time. The pepper-pot brake does make an appreciable difference.

IIRC, snallygaster got the threaded upper right??

If so, go to A.A.'s site and pick up a threaded muzzle brake. Your shoulder will thank you.

This is what I'd like to get, but the upper was custom threaded so the AA brakes won't fit. I will have to have a custom one made or try a thread adapter. Either way it's not going to be cheap. But I like the set up so will likely drop the $$

Find out what thread pitch they used, if you can.

Or, have the threads chopped, re-thread in the 49/64-20 and have it permanently attached to avoid OAL issues.

It's 5/8-24. Chopping it might be an idea.

Who the hell threads a .50 in .30 cal threads??

I guess you may be able to have a .30 cal brake bored out to .50, but that could get interesting - may take too much material out and weaken the brake.

That'd suck, bang, bang, bang - ping. Damn, the brake blew to pieces...

Eh, chopping seems like a better idea now.

Thread adapter alone is going to add 1.1 inches, then a brake after that...

Pepper-pot brake is 3.410" by itself. You could have the barrel chopped and threaded, permanently attach the brake, and still easily meet the 16" requirement,

I must have one of these.....Brad, tell Wes to buy my 300 blackout carbine upper already so I can fund the Beowulf upper!

I'll do what I can. ;) Although mine may become available...

The 12" upper is definitely looking good with my tax stamp very close to arriving. HD upper perhaps?? :D

I cant think of a better home defense gun, but you better have ears handy when you respond.

Plus, won't your dog just eat them?

Ears would be a must, for sure.

Depends on where the dog's sleeping at that time, he's a hell of a deterrent, when he's awake... :lol2:
