Why would you need a pistol that shoots that kind of ammo?

Also, I had no idea that something like that would have an effect on importation of ammo.

I believe Olympic Arms made an AR pistol chambered in 7.62X39 which lead to the import ban on super cheap Chinese mild steel core ammo. Who has produced a 5.45 pistol?

So this is just for the steel core, regular fmj is still available, or was steel core all that was coming in?

Eh, you can still get commercial ammo.

Also, as others have pointed out, the bullet diameter is < .22, so it's not clear how that could fit the definition of AP ammo.

The 5.45 bullet is actually larger than .22. Just like 7.62mm/.30 cal is really a .308 bullet.

General question. How do you identify 7N6 (writing on the spam can?) I have some tins left over that I could pull a bullet and cut it open. So stuff "in hand" is easy. But how to identify it on the web? Like, is the stuff AIM is selling 7N6 even though they don't call it that? I notice some vendors specifically mention it and others dont.

    Edit: It is.

I'm more worried about the Ukraine fall out than I am some knucklehead with a Pistol. A lot of 5.45 is manufactured in the Ukraine, and the Soviet surplus stuff might get banned--but neither of these things has actually happened yet. Right now there is a mini-panic but the prices are still much lower than .223 despite this.

Moral of the story is the same as always though:

What's funny is that 5.45 is the center-fire cartridge I own the most of and I don't even have anything to shoot it with.

I just bought a ton of it when it was really cheap knowing that someday it would go up in price.

Looks like that Someday may be coming sooner than I thought.

I keep on telling people. Stop wasting your money buying stocks and start investing in Ammo, Mags and scary looking rifles.
