    Where do you Live?
Does anyone have any other details in reference to the new law coming Oct.1? I know we will have to provide fingerprints and a required saftey course to establish a license to buy guns. My question is, if we meet the requirements to establish a license, does this mean that I will still have to wait the seven days, or will there be instant checks like other states? If we cant purchase same day then this license to buy is some bull$hit!!!!!

It will probably still be the 7 day waiting period. But who knows, MSP will provide details on SB281 handgun regulations late Sept.

With the situation we are in now and then add the foid card and added requirements (that no one knows how they will be handled/issued yet ) you will be waiting allot longer then 7 days . This mess they have us in is only going to get worse .

No change, but in many cases it will be much more than a 7 day wait, as was stated above.

Consider it just like it is now but with more obstructions for law abiding citizens who want to buy guns being put into place.

I have honestly been thinking the same thing . A year if not damned close to it :sad20:

I feel sorry for those turning 21 in the near future wanting to buy a handgun .

    Yup that and then ...............

What happens when the abused woman with a restraining order gets killed by her abusive boyfriend while she is on her 300+ day wait to get some protection . I guess she had better stock up on jars of urine and vomit to pour on herself and throw at him .

    Sgt Preston here...

The big issue is the training requirement...

    NRA Courses are NOT acceptable...

Hunter Safety Courses = NOT acceptable...

The new training can only be taught by the Authorized Maryland State Police...

No dates have been set for any training classes...

AFTER you finish the training requirement & have been fingerprinted,

You will be given an extensive background check & have to WAIT for a while...

At some point you will get a permit that allows you to buy guns for 5 years...

At that point you are good to go & can buy a gun & then wait another 100 days the have your background re-checked for each purchase...

The whole training & fingerprinting process must be repeated every 5 years...

And it's going to cost you some $$$...

I did however hear that if you were Law Enforcement, you would not have to attend the required safety course. Anyone else hear that?

This really is no longer funny. All joking aside (which is hard for me to do). A year wait after 10-1 is most definately a possibility.

What if someone gets really sick within that time frame and can't pick-up their guns.

What if, God forbid, someone dies within that time frame and a family is S*** out of luck with 1,000's of dollars worth of firearms sitting in limbo at some FFL.

I know this is going to the extreme, but it can happen.

Our state has thrown its hands up and it's waving its middle fingers in our faces.

The F****** courts need to step in. Now!

This is just my .025 on finger printing.

There was talk in Annapolis that C&R holders are exempt from finger printing because it was done when they applied for the license.

If this is true or has changed, please chime in.

Also, ex-military and retired military are exempt from training, but still need the HQL.

There is no finger printing required to get a Curio & Relic (C&R) FFL 03 license!
