Sitting here after the days events, seeing the small sliver of hope evaporate, I'm feeling dejected and defeated. I'm getting tired of losing.
When the Heller v. DC decision was handed down in 2008 I had hoped that things had maybe turned a corner, but in the wake of that, we've just been getting beaten at almost every turn, with Heller being blatantly ignored, and with this election so obviously stolen... It's possible that history will mark this as the beginning of the downfall of a once proud and great nation.
The question I have in my mind - is there any hope to turn it back. We lose our rights so quickly with bad legislation rammed through by partisan political systems, and it literally takes decades of tooth and nail legal wrangling too wrest them back, if it happens at all - DC languished under the Firearms Control Regulations Act of 1975 for 33 years before a viable case was heard by the SCOTUS. I have no doubt that FSA2013 will still be in full effect Long after I'm dead.
With the events of today, I'm sadly confident that inside of 4 years we're going to see legislation enacted on a national level that eviscerates our rights, and not only with guns. I held hope at one point that I could simply escape to a state with a stronger grip on freedom, but at this point, I don't hold out hope that we'll get through the next 4 years without seeing drastic erosions of our rights to the point where moving to another state won't even matter.
Sorry - I know it's a pretty negative outlook, but after being beaten time after time in recent years, I think it's only going to get worse - we've come to the point in this nation's history where the Constitution no longer protects us from tyranny - not when it's blatantly ignored, and obvious egregious election fraud gets swept under the rug as if it never happened.
