I harvested my first buck with a compound bow today (11/8/14) and only my second deer with a bow ever. It was the most exhilarating experience hunting yet! It's a bruiser!!!
How short can .223 cases be trimmed and still be safe? I just bought a Lyman case trimmer and apparently I made an error when I set the stop dials. Case length is listed at 1.75" in the book. My cases are now trimmed to 1.73. Is the .02" difference that big of a deal to safely shoot? I've also...
So I'm sitting at my bench pondering the meaning of life and a say to myself, "self why is all this brass stamped LC 10"?
This is the majority of the brass I claimed from the range at work last week. This may be a silly question but does Federal reclaim and reload at the factory?
It my...
So what is a good number of .223 shells to put in the tumbler at one time? I just bought one of the HF tumblers listed in another thread that states it has a 5lb capacity. I figured I had about 1 1/2 pounds of walnut media and about 1 1/2 pounds of brass (guesstimate. It ended up being 121...
Has anyone successfully made a DIY brass tumbler? I'm toying with the idea but don't want to commit a lot of time to something that isn't worth doing.
If you have successfully done this what are some things you noticed? Pros & cons and the like.
Ran out of brass to load so I'm occupying my...
I tried a search but didn't see anything on this topic. Are the silver cases on most "duty" ammo reloadable? I've been told it's a nickle coating over a brass casing...
Is the process the same if it can be reloaded? Anything extra to be done to prep the case?
Thanks.
So I'm cleaning up some brass and started noticing a consistent blemish on the cases. The rifle is brand new and these are all once fired Remington cases.
Are these blemishes normal? Or is this an indication something is wrong with my weapon?
I've never had a semi-auto rifle before so I have...
OK, so this is the press I decided to buy to start reloading.
I started using it last night and found that the handle has to be moved quit a ways to get a full stroke. The pressure didn't seem too great to raise the ram.
My question is:
Has anyone cut their handle down to decrease the amount...
I have a 10 year old boy that LOVES to shoot. He shoots already whenever we can both pistols and long guns. He started shooting at 6 and passed his hunters safety class at 7 and harvested his first deer that season.
We have talked about looking for an organized event that possibly runs...
My apologies in advance if this is a repost. I'm using my phone at the moment and the search function is going crazy. As I indicated in another post, I'm new to reloading. I don't yet have a tumbler to polish/ clean my brass.
My question:
Is it acceptable to simply clean the brass in a mild...
Hello all, I recently decided to start reloading and found this site while doing research on the topic. I am really enjoying the site so far and have already found a lot of useful information on here.
So, Santa left a shiny new press under the tree for me. (I was a good boy this year haha). I...
