I just a acquired a Benelli M4/1014. The Official Joint Services Combat shotgun.

What is a combat shotgun anyways? I did some googling and wikipedia searches, but there is not much info about them.

Is this different from an HD shotgun or a Duty/Police shotgun?
What gives it the designation" combat shotgun"
    Anyone care to enlighten us?

    Thanks

    Scar

Crazyal just left from my house. He was raving about his new Benelli m2 tactical shotgun.

I showed him how to operate the darn thing, took out the mag block and a quick lesson on breaking it own.

I just hope he does not learn how to bump fire the M2. He did notice how fast the Benelli semi auto shotguns cycle. Nothing short of awesome

He was also trying to install a limbsaver recoil pad on it. Thanks to 3" buckshots

I also have an m4. What a phenomenal weapon. you may have an issue cycling target loads initially, but it will break in.

"Combat, Home Defense, Fighting......." they all basically amount to the same thing, a cool tactical shotgun. you just happen to have bought the finest one available.:)

also, look into a full length magazine. it really does take this shotgun to the next level. I wouldnt worry about a new recoil pad either, I shoot 00 and slug all the time through mine, it is such a heavy gun that it doesnt really kick much

I have already installed Enough US made parts to make it 922 compliant. i installed the 7 round mag tube this afternoon. Just waiting on the C- stock and sidearmor rail.

It is indeed an awesome weapon. Im glad I acquired it.

The Geneva convention prohibits the use of lead slugs in combat as they deform..copper jacketed slugs are okay....

In WW1.... The Germans protested the use of combat shotguns in trench warfare. It was known to cause horrific wounds. The Germans also stated that anyone caught with a shotgun will be summarily executed.

In the Sandbox.... Nothing can induce fear onto insurgents more than a US Marine packing a combat shotgun.

Shotguns have a 45% hit advantage over another shooter firing a submachinegun in burst mode.

    Just some factoids to ponder

well, on my first tour to iraq back in 05, i had the misfortune to have to carry a shotgun and my m4 because to this day it is unauthorized to use a shotgun against enemy troops and is only used for breeching purposes.

fast forward to last year in afghanistan, I have the fortune of being an EOD team leader and not a grunt. nobody carried shotguns. then again mud huts dont generally have doors, but I will have to check as I still dont think anyboy can use shotguns on personnel.

that aside, the benelli m4 is my personal HD weapon, and I once had to brandish it for some hoodlums attempting to break into my house in EL Paso. 3 of them one me with an m4, they ran. I love that gun.

Older WW1 combat pump shotguns do not have disconnectors. US troops would practically keep the trigger depressed and slamfired the gun with each cycle of the slide.

That can be done very fast and resulted in many turks and germans with heads blown off( literally). The US protested this protest....

even up to now.. Military shotguns are mainly anti material weapons. Our troops use it to destroy the enemy's clothing... The devastating wounds it produces is simply... Collateral damage.:innocent0

The trench guns would slam fire, even the first Norinco generation repros had the slam fire capability. Then the BAFTE got involved.

    SlamFiring is fun :)

PS: Combat shotguns have Bayonets :evilgrin3
