What stops the MD legislature to pass unconstitutional laws that may take >1 year to overturn in the courts.
HQL took 10 years. Even so, the true turn back may take another 5-10?
What stops them from passing laws EVERY YEAR that gets over turned? There are no legal penalties for that is there?

Actually, most real assault weapons - fully automatic rifles - are legal in MD. You have to jump through hoops and deal with local restrictions on their use, but completely legal.
