Lot's of pirate battles and activity on the Chesapeake too... people forget that part of our history.

as a boy I listened to the old men talk of pirate stories and of one of my great grandfathers fighting the Indians and another fighting in the revolution and all the men signing papers swearing allegiance to the new country before and during and after the revolution and another great grandfather being a captain on a ship in the war of 1812 protecting a section of the Potomac from st indigoes to Clifton quarters. and man the stories of the war of northern aggression. and the stories of the depression and what had to be done to feed their families. I loved listening to those stories but now all those men are dead and their stories with them. I wish someone had written them down.
