You answered your own question. In addition to those 2 things, there is also the part about not changing our culture, society, and laws to conform to where you came from and what you are used to.

If they find our culture offensive then maybe they should choose somewhere else to settle. The last time I checked, immigrants were supposed to assimilate into our culture because they were leaving their homelands for a better way of life as found in this country.

And by the way there is nothing further to explain on me being a lost democrat. That's exactly what I am. The democrats lost me. 2 years or so ago. I take exception to this not because I come from an immigrant family or have not assimilated. The only thing that needs to be assimilated if you choose to immigrate here is the respect for the constitution and then whatever laws are unique to your state. You can be Amish or whatever and if you choose to assimilate or not it's a personal individual decision. Culture can be anything and you don't need to respect some of it or all of it but because we have a double standard of this so called assimilation it is precisely what the "Muslim culture" is trying to impose on us.

If you keep with that simple truth then you or I can always use that argument to not respect to other peoples way of life if they impose it on us.

Nobody, but nobody, better ask me to assimilate and give up my genoa salami, coppa, soppressata, prosciutto, coppa, mozzarella, regiano parmigiano, kalamata olives, olive oil, linguine, etc. or there will be some hell to pay.

Look here, we are all Americans. American-Italian, American-Irish, American-Indian, American-Polish, American-Spanish, etc. Should also be American-African. America first. Plain and simple. The good thing about America is that we have the freedom to enjoy the culture from which we came, and then embrace these American sports called basketball, football, and baseball, even though they are complete nonsense. lol

The wonderful thing about America is, FREEDOM, and the ability to pursue happiness, which usually comes if you work hard and are not so greedy that you can never be happy.

For argument sake I will ask you this. What if the so called outsiders call them immigrants or even naturalized citizens did something that met the condition that it was law abiding (just to get that out of the way) and it offended you. Do you have a right to tell them you have been offended.
Do you feel you have a higher state of entitlement or privileges (except that you meet the conditions to be president) then someone that has immigrated here and became naturalized.

I think he is trying to say that new people should not be dictating what they want our nation to become, because they haven't taken the time to learn much about us, except for the things on the surface. We are descendants of immigrants, yes, but of the same token, we were born here and grew up here. We grew up in the culture, society , and mentality, that is America. We don't want it changed, because one interest group wants it changed.

This is an example of how the immigrants and illegals are trying to make us conform to their wishes and wants, when they should be conforming to the way America is. Muslim immigrants want to enact and enforce Sharia Law in America, just because our laws are not harsh enough. Would you allow them to do that? A yes or no for an answer will suffice. No further explanation is needed.
