Didn’t see this posted yet so apologies if it’s a dupe.
The HQL will in fact stay in place. Nothing but a submittal and $20 , no training etc.
They are asking for a minimum of 14 days before your current one expires. No penalties other than you cannot purchase a regulated firearm during the void.

Thanks for the info. Mine is expiring early October.

Why would anyone think the state would give up on a cash cow. Hmmm I wonder if HQL renewal for WCP will be free?

Hmmm. That’s a good question. I bet if you let it expire, it will work. The question will be if you don’t let it expire will it renew for free?

Nothing would surprise me but since you have to add it to every 77r rather it being saved like all your other info and the fact that the issuing year is part of the number I’d think they’d catch it.

Thanks for posting the information. Mine expires in 2026 and I'm eligible to retire in 2027 and, more importantly, able to leave MD. I've been thinking of a firearm purchase as a self-retirement gift... I might have to do it a year early as I don't really want to give this state twenty more dollars.
