"Choose civility" to me is like "common sense gun control", by using specific words and phrases ignorant followers can easily be convinced that they are superior to their opposition.

    27. Firearms are bad.

    28. Hide under your desk with scissors if ever confronted with a threat , call 911 and wait for the police to arrive for protection.

I swear I've heard this stuff before ...

Be kind! Rewind! - Reconcile your past ... in order to move into your future!
Two for one every Wednesday - Give twice as much as ye receive on our most sacred of days.
Large adult entertainment section in the back. - erm, yeah, I think that one is self explanatory

    Choose civility?

It's a little like Lucy promising Charlie Brown that this time, she won't pull the football away when he tries to kick it.

Giving benefit of the doubt, if all that this means is what is written in post #14, it looks like what most gun owners would wholeheartedly agree with. Are we unfairly damning the concept because of who we associate it with? What would most of us not agree with in that list of 1-25? Like some are becoming DINO's to try and make a change, I would think gun groups could easily adopt the civility thing and make it their own as well. I guess aside from the implied association, I am 100% in agreement with every one of the 25 behaviors. I would never use the bumper sticker but I have no issues with those behaviors. I wish everyone would follow them, even anti gun folks.

    +1 This^

I want to add that not one single of these 25 items says "Roll over and never stand up for yourself."

I recently completed my NRA BIT & Pistol Instructor course. The thing that struck me as I read through the list of 25 items referenced above, is that MOST of these concepts were taught in the BIT course as ways to behave so that you don't scare all your students away, & to show especially new-to-guns students that gun people are just normal people & not evil.

Side note to those asking others to explain things for them (which happens far more on this board than most would believe), instead of asking people to spoon feed you the bumper-sticker-short definition of an entire way of thinking, you really should make at least a slight effort at looking things up for yourself. If the President says guns are evil, and people believe hi without doing their own thinking, don't we call them unthinking sheep/sheeple? Don't be *just* like those people. Show us you have a brain. You can do it, I know you can! (See what I did there? I used civility when I could have said "Stop being a F-ing idiot & look it up for yourself!)

There must be something nonferrous about the movement, because on face value the list seems harmless enough. I will say my knee jerk reaction is to be cautious of similar groups, but that's just me.

Maybe it's just me, but I would not regard your comments as choosing civility, but one of patronizing arrogance.

Some people, including myself really don't care enough to spend hours on research to discover what the movement/group's agenda is. With the vast knowledge-base here you can most times get a quick outline on a topic, and a place to start if interested.

It's actually much easier to just go Google the thing yourself than to post the question here & come back looking for responses. Not to be patronizingly arrogant...
