So a police officer will store his/her weapon where? So forget the fact they are unarmed in the school they are unarmed on the way there.
I hope it doesn't happen but if a school shooting happens (thinking it will be a pistol not an "assault rifle ") Cops should just sit out side and tell em we can't go in with our weapons. The SCOTUS has ruled police have no duty to protect

It's crazy to disarm the police.

If they don't trust the police, who are they going to call if there is a mass shooting? Criminals? Clowns? The coolaid man?

Can someone explain why the Baltimore schools have their own police department?

Could they be made a department of the Baltimore PD?

Maybe the criminals will be swayed by the LEO's strong words to stop doing bad things. Also, when responding to a crime at a school, do the incoming police officers have to disarm before they can come onto school grounds.

I think the easy way to bypass this stupidity is for the police to declare all city schools as an active crime scene. I'm pretty sure they already are.

    Folks,

Read Education 4-318. The school officers are already empowered to carry within their assigned (permanent or temporary) schools. This would have modified some of the statute, but the lack of this bill is not a complete disarmament of the school police officers.

Maybe they will be retrained to confront any serious threat by standing in a slight crouching position with their left foot forward and their right hand placed just behind their right hip to give the illusion that they have a gun.

The school police can only carry in the school they are "assigned".

    They conveniently forget that.

I've never "gone there" but this makes it look like they want an event to happen. Maybe to further their political agenda. What other conclusion can you come to?

Not saying that changes to the law are not warranted; just saying that all the media pundits, and others, are incorrect when they state that the schools will not be able to have "armed LE" on premises and that Annapolis is placing children in danger. Not allowing a certified LE to carry per the same standards that most other departments use - stupid, IMO, and needs to be addressed; but the real statutory limitations should be discussed to give an accurate picture. Researching existing statute to provide counterpoints in the articles would have been journalism; by refusing to do so, the Sun, and other outlets, are merely showing their sensationalist, propagandizing nature yet again.

Terrorists prefer unarmed victims. There's a video of an unarmed cop in France getting shot in the head by a terrorist as he's on the ground begging for his life. There's another video of an unarmed British soldier getting beheaded in the middle of the street by a terrorist with kitchen knives. Somebody show those videos to the braindead gun control freaks who want to disarm everyone here in America.

It is not a war on police as I see it but a war on the 2nd Amendment regardless of who it impacts. In this case the school security.

Sadly the gun grabbers think they know better then us and have decided they will now decide for us when it comes to the 2nd.
