Hi all. I'm looking at a Howa ar180 made before 1974. I think it's eligible as a C&R. Considering that, would it be possible to transfer it to Maryland?

Because it's listed by name on the marlandistan banned list. The only way to own one legally in this crapfest of a socialist state is to have bought it prior to sometime in 2013.

Not trying to be argumentative, but doesn't C&R override that list?

I thought that list was for newish guns that had to be run through a brick and mortar FFL dealer.

The whole idea of C&R is to buy firearms that are out of circulation. It would be like Maryland putting the Springfield .45-70 Trapdoor on the banned list.

No, it does not. I forget where it's written but the feds have specifically said that you cannot use an 03 to circumvent state law.

    OP.

Where are you seeing those Howa's for sale and for how-a much?

This is worth a bit of investigation. A letter to the state may be in order.

    Thx.

You can go that route and you might get away with it. You just might. But then again, you might not. You have to ask yourself if it's worth the risk.
Yeah, this. It would be easier to establish residency in Arizona.

Or you might end up with a weapon that has a body on it from sometime between when you claimed to have acquired it and when you actually did. Not very likely but not impossible. . .

If you bought one used in this state prior to the 1994 registration requirement, it's perfectly legal for you to own with no registration, not even a 4473 if you bought it face to face.
