    any news yet?

I just revisited this forum for the first time in a few months and saw this... I saw the date/time and was like O_O it's happening right now!!

I was born and raised in MD but currently live in PA. this would be AWESOME for me... as I attend class in downtown Baltimore until 11 in the evening some nights and am afraid to carry without a license. :(

ARGH! Got hit with a stomach virus today and missed out on attending. my wife gave me a bunch of meds and I passed out until 230...

Really wanted to make this one. Oh well, I'm sure there will be more. I at least got emails sent out to them.

Hey guys, don't forget that today is just the hearing. The committee won't vote on this today unless I'm mistaken.

Correct. After today's testimony, it's up to Vallario to schedule a vote. If he does, and it passes in committee, it goes to the House floor for a vote. If he doesn't, the bill dies with only a whimper or two.

I was under the understanding that the committee votes to bring it the floor for a house vote, but I'm probably wrong. In the likely case I am, all we need to convince today is Vallario to schedule a vote?

Chairman Vallario decides if he will schedule it for the committee vote. If he fails to schedule it, that's the "desk drawer veto" that Sen Frosh does so often.

You're correct. I edited my previous post for clarity.

NBC DC has a small story about the hearing today. Be sure to vote, and leave a message (you'll have to register to post, but not to vote)

    http://www.nbcwashington.com/news/l...r-Proposes-Expanding-Gun-Rights-82687842.html

Interesting that the selections in the drop down menu weren't in alphabetical order and "Furious" was the first choice followed by "Sad"...

EDIT: Also, it kinda ticks me off that in every one of these media polls, the picture accompanying the story is of a gun, or table full of guns, rather than a father holding hands with his wife and child walking around the Inner Harbour.

    More play-by-play on the scene:
Jason Sxxx Step in the right direction. Hoping for the best.
about an hour ago · Christopher Cxxx Could you keep us updated, J.B.?
about an hour ago · J.B. Jxxx We are well over an hour into the testimony. We've had about 6 panels of supporters speak. We still have the opponents to go.
51 minutes ago · Mark Axxx I think that the smallest group (for or against the bill) spoke first in Vallario's chamber, so if my understanding is correct this may mean there is no one there to speak against it,
46 minutes ago · J.B. Jxxx We have written testimony both for and against the bill. There are several people signed up to speak against. Including the State Police.
40 minutes ago · Mark Axxx Interesting.
34 minutes ago · J.B. Jxxx we are now hearing testimony from the opposition
