I do not like external safeties and tend not to buy handguns that have them. I always carry with one in the chamber. I safety is my brain. Don't finger the trigger and the gun won't go bang.
M&P9C, XDS .45acp or Ruger LCP. All chambered and ready for the fight. If I am not carrying in the home they are in a gun vault ready to go..... to not chamber and need the weapon, taking that last few secs to chamber and acquire trigger is just a disaster waiting to happen to you.
Just curious....how many people keep a round chambered in their concealed carry weapon that does not have a safety? How many feel this is too dangerous?
What CCW weapons don't have a safety, per se? Just curious.
One in the pipe or it stays home.
Sorta defeats the purpose if you don't.... WAIT, WAIT, WAIT.... I gotta load this thing....
anything is possible...BUT doubtful. Typically most accidents happen holstering a weapon...at least from what Ive read in the news.Agreed...the argument was that you could fire the gun unintentionally as you were un-holstering it. I disagreed and demonstrated my Flashbang Bra/Ruger draw....no finger near the trigger at all.
The key is to carry the gun in a proper holster. That holster should retain the gun and securely cover the trigger guard.
I will add that anyone that carries should practice/train as they would fight. If you are not comfortable with a loaded chamber then you need to be very proficient with racking the slide during the draw.
Agreed!
Strange thing I could swear my sister who is in the Air Force told me when carrying on base or wherever that are not allowed to have one in the pipe. Why would this be policy? To many airmen shooting themselves in the foot?
When I was deployed, that was the standard configuration on all major US military installations unless you had a specific exemption and it applied to all of the services. And yes, the reason was because of too many negligent discharges.
It's kind of hard to load a revolver while being threatened.
