Yogis an *******, plain and simple. Its not bad enough that he has to act like the lord of the range, but ive seen people, and myself, talk to him and pronounce something one way, and usually the right way, and he has it in his mind that its some totally different way and it becomes an issue. He cannot leave women shooters alone, and several times i have seen him make unneeded remarks to them (sexual in nature)...he is an over bearing micromanager about everything. Its fine to call people on breaking the rules and such, thats a good thing...but he gets out of hand. He needs to remember that he is no one special, he has no power...he is another shooter at thr range....thats it.

Is that the guy who was leaning over you the whole time I was there ? I'm still lost over the question about adjusting a rifle scope. I'll have to assume that fella has never owned a gun before ?

Good meeting you the other day by the way. That was my one time of the year I step foot down there.

Someone needs to put that idiot in his place. If he is annoying people then people need to tell him to STFU or GTFO. Annoying women is completely unacceptable.

Theres always one at a range. I swear that firearms draw the oddest f-ing wierdos in the world.

I always have tools in my Range Kit and in the past, I often had Customer Weapons with me. I cannot count how many times some idiot would approach me and then try to incorrectly tell me how to "fix it right". When I tell them I get paid to fix screw ups people like them make they usually go back to minding their business.

If I bring my kids or wife to a range then I will give them training and manage our use or rules/safety. If I dont solicit anyone for input/help and they try to get involved in my shit then Im forced to play Alpha Male.

These comments dont usually apply to Range Employees. The only range I have ever been to where Range Employees are overbearing are in INdoor Range near me and Marriotsville several years back.

Makes me glad that I dont have to deal with that crap anymore.

No this fella was a bit taller than me, dark hair and sort of thin. Not the other gent. I thought I recognized the GF's Brother from somewhere though. He might have been the guy that guy there right after you did ?

Got ya. I think I might have witnessed this Yogi guy before. Tried explaining things to me I learned long ago. I politely told this fellow I was busy and please step away from my person. I don't mind guys who have a feel to express their knowledge on new people they don't know, but, it needs to be someone besides me. Basically I told him I was there to shoot my slug gun 10 times and walk away. I was not there to listen to him document the novels of his knowledge. I said, thanks, bye now. I vaguely remember this gent having on jeans, button up shirt, and a ball cap of some sort, but, the belly and voice are very obvious.

So what characters were there today? This thread is better than watching threes company reruns!!!

I think they were closed because it was muzzleloader season.

I was going to head down, called but got no answer.

Ended up going to MSAR....waited in line for 2 hours, turned around and went home without getting to shoot. My first and last time going to MSAR.

TONS of people were there. People who shouldn't even be looking at guns, let alone shooting one. Over-bearing, and ever-so-knowledgeable employees. 2 hour wait in line only to have 7 numbers called. I walked in on #10. I was #28.

    I can't stand that place.

they dont close until during firearm/shotgun season.. not everyday they have somebody at the office answering the phones. just fyi.

Won't be long now and MG will be closing for its annual Firearms Deer season closure.

I really wish someone would start a petition to stop this silly outdated rule.

I've been going to MG for 17 years now. I've never understood why they closed during deer firearms season.

You don't understand because you have only been going there for 17 years and the annual closure started 50 years ago.

    Then:
The range was started by Deer Hunters. Not paper target shooters. Deer hunters closed the range for the two week Deer hunting firearms season so the noise would not disrupt the Deer hunting.

    Now:
Not many Deer hunters hunt Deer at MG and the Deer walk by the range all day long with no regards to the shooting noise. They were born there and they are familiar with the noise, they pay it no mind. The closure is something of a "tradition" and a "That's the way it has always been" sort of thinking.

The rule is outdated and needs to end today. It serves no purpose for its original inclusion of rules.

I also must add that I somewhat understand that the MG staff uses this two week period to clean house, general maint. and other activities ? I have no idea what happens there over this two week closure, 'cause I'm Deer huntin' , but, this may still be the case for the annual closure. I do not know.

Ah, gotcha. I thought it may have been no one there, but I wasn't about to drive all the way down there to find out

I just saw they close during firearm season, and thought muzzleloader was included in that.

;) i believe only 3 works there now.. and they pretty much handle big portion of soMD. There are times that nobody is at the office coz they are running around dealing with other wmas in the area.

I understand the need for a break so the range can be takencare of and things replaced. that is fine.

But now this is the only place a lot of us have to shoot, so what happens if a hunter drops his weapon during the season and has to check and or sight back in the weapon. A simple slip could end the season for some hunters because of the range being closed.

Now what would be great if some of the people witht private ranges would be so nice to offer up members of MD shooters the use of there private range during the closed season even if it was to just check/ resight in a weapon.

Never known a hunter to only own one gun. I have plenty of back ups to carry for a two period. If I dropped my shotgun... the muzzleloader would be out there the next day. :D

The reason why guys build their own ranges is to get away from everyone else. Same reason I shoot at the gravel pit on the farm or over at Hankcocks farm in La Plata. Mostly so I don't have to deal with ding dongs and I don't have to wait 20 minutes for some guy with a rack of little .22 rifles or pistols to get done hitting everything but the target to go change my target. I go to the gravel pit so I don't have to deal others whom I don't trust.

I know a lot of older hunters that have only one shotgun and use it for everything.
