Thanks Macc. I guess a day off work is in order soon then. Are there many idiots that go out there? I have seen some talk on another post that they have been shootin the barriers up pretty bad.

You'll get asshats out there inevitably, from time to time they make the trip there, but honestly, I try to address them and the issue as it pops up. Get enough people correcting the few bad-eggs and they tend to go elsewhere.

For the most part it's not an issue, but it occasionally does become an issue, although short-lived in my own experiences.

Ohh, the poor shack, how can I forget that..., it never bothered no one..., handgun, shotgun rounds, some people don't care what they hit, as long as they're shooting something.

Don't forget the tables/benches too, those have a few rounds thru them too. :sad20:

When a cold's called, no handling, basic common sense, if they don't like that, they can leave. That said, aside from members I shoot with, I don't trust people I don't normally shoot with.

Just make sure everyone is cleared before you head downrange though, never hurts. ;)

I was just kidding about the return fire. After 15+ years in the Army I am very comfortable on ranges. Just cautious about a public range this close to a big city. I am more at home on the family farm or at a friends house plinking. I am going to give it a try this week if the weather cooperates. If all is well I may try to get there on a regular basis. Is there a range safety officer there at all or is it hit and miss when they are around?

RSO isn't exactly standard issue at MG, budget issues, but we normally do a good job of policing ourselves and others.

Basic rules, 1 shot per second, stay behind the table if shooting pistol, keep the target in the mesh on the stands, 'B' style targets are not verboten, but not exactly welcomed since most people hit the stands when shooting at them.

The rules are listed pretty well, one that isn't listed but is encouraged, shotgun - 1 buck/birdshot shot is permitted on the range for patterning test, other than that slugs should be used, since it does tear up the stands.

Other than that, try and keep your target in-line with the back-stop, not a column.

It's all pretty much common sense, 15+ years in, you should be able to figure out what not to do. :D

Like I've said before, I've witnessed some tense situations that we can discuss in person, but 90% of the time I can say there is always someone in control. When you first get around you think of those guys like range nazi's or A-Holes like Yogi etc. but eventually you grow to appreciate them. It's not the wild west up at MG, there's plenty of regulars who look out for everyone :)

It's up to us to police each other, I'm not perfect either and everyone needs a little reminder. And if all else fails just give people the "Hey man, it's no big deal to me, but DNR might come down here and they will hand you a $250 fine with no remorse. lol

I'm just taking a break from the press and brass-prep, I'd load .308, but currently don't have one. (One day I'll fix that.)

Haha, drunk posting is some of the most interesting posting that can be done. :D

Someone told me the 1rnd/sec rule was in place because of compact that was created with the neighbors when the range was built. And apparently some of them will complain if they hear it.

I also understand that rapid fire can bother other shooters who may be trying to sight something in or w/e.

With that being said, if I had a suppressed full auto AR-15 and I cleared it with the other shooters first, do you think it would be a problem if I burned through a couple mags in a couple seconds now and then?
