Any left at SGS? How would you compare this to an FNP? Those 2 are on my list for next 9mm. I was there maybe a week and a half ago looking at an FNP. I was the big Asian guy. A couple of your man friends were there picking up some AR lowers.

I would pick the PPQ 9 over the FNP 9 every time. The PPQ has better ergos, better trigger, easier to swap sights and the PPQ tends to be a slightly more accurate gun compared to the FNP9.

The only FNP I would consider over the PPQ would be the FNP45 Tactical.

Pretty sure it takes P99 sights.

While that might be true I don't know who makes P99 sights so I'm not any better off.

Does anyone happen to know the thread pitch on the First Edition barrel?

I remember a few years ago the M&P 9 Tactical came with a threaded barrel that was in a common pitch but because of the gap on the front of the barrel it would only index with a Gemtech silencer.

Trijicon makes Night Sights for the P99 and it fits the PPQ.

The night sight is the only reason for me to consider the First Edition. Looks like there are some issues with factory installation and they aren't that bright anyways. Regular PPQ for me it is.

meprolight makes GREAT tritium night sights for the p99. They're supposedly brighter than the trijicons. I put some on mine and have been very pleased. They've got some wear from various things(including grinding along rocks when doing some mountain clmbing), but have hels up incredibly well. Installation is caveman simple. Detent screw out, push sight out by hand, push new one in, detent screw back in. Up front just loosen wedge screw with tool provided from factory, put in front night sight, screw in from beneath slide with screw tool(or needlenose pliers if you don't have one).

I'm not sure how the factory can screw up something so simple. I'm curious as to what the issues with installation are.

    mine are below...

I havent received the first editions yet to see but that "unacceptable damage" those safe queens are complaining about is hilarious. I can fix that peening in 5 mins. No one would ever know it was there after im done.

Its a non issue for me.

That damage is just odd to me. The Mepro rear sight I put on drifted back and forth under moderate finger pressure. Once in the dovetail, the adjustment screw moves it left and right with ease. It looks like the sights were out of spec or something. I can't remember exactly(long time ago), but i thought i remembered having to insert the sight into the dovetail from right to left. Is the dovetail directional and are they cramming it in from the wrong side, or is the sight just not fitted correctly when they're forcing it in there?

Its hard to say how they did it but the damage isnt excessive. Like I said, with 5 mins Ill make that damage vanish. Theres no need to replace slides like some of those people are going nuts over.

true, i'm just wondering if the damage is more indicative of a improperly sized rear sight, or forcing it in from the wrong side. It'd be annoying to have an adjustment screw you've got to excessively torque on for the rear sight to move because someone didn't fit a dovetail correctly on a sight.

Thanks. What would your top 3 be from the list plus the PPQ and FNP? I'm trying to keep it under $700. Glock is out because I am actually trying to replace a G17. Can't shoot it too well even though it was my first firearm. Shoot every other handgun better then the Glock.
