Littlefoot44 ( and by extention , me ) are in need of an Independent Shop . that is highly experienced and familiar with early 21th Century VW . We know who to go to for Honda and most Japanese , but need equivalent for VW .
In addition to her usual electrical minor foibles , an intermittent electrical thing causes her A/T to not engage either forewards or backwards . Transmission expert says it's NOT actual transmission related , but electronic issue , and he don't do electronics .
Previous during the period I was allowed to have commuter car - car , had a electrical problem . Took it to the Honda Guru , and the bilingual counter guy asked Honorable Grandfather who didn't speak english . Without even looking " It's (this wire) in the dash that because of heat from the sun the insulation dries out and gives intermittent shorts and stops the car
And while your in there , replace ( that relay) that will be getting ready to go bad . , And he was exactly right .
We need a VW specialist that can say " oh yeah , It's this , I've seen it 10 times before ." Auto Electric Generalists randomly running down circuits for intermittent shorts is a very deep rabbit hole .
So who's the independent VW specialist with good reputation , with at least 20yrs experience ? Charles/ South PG would be bonus , but at this point anywhere in range of auto club towing .
