And it turns out that the computer won't communicate to attemp to give codes . So it's just dropped off at A&A Auto Electric , and going from there .

Opps , '06 Beetle Diesel .

It's been a while but I think its the brake light switch (small button thats pressed by the brake pedal lever) or another switch on the shift lever that causes the won't shift into gear problem.
Used to be a once or twice per week occurrence at the dealer back in 2003
