Hello all! I have been around the boards a little while, and try to contribute a little info when I can. Really enjoy all the great info found here, as it has helped us enjoy our new hobby. Was able to spend two days in Annapolis in March, and really appreciated all the hard work from everyone I met there. We live on the Eastern Shore, and enjoy tactical pistols and rifles. Have been working on our collection for almost three years now. When we get the chance, we love to go shoot at Delmarva, and sometimes On Target or Free State.

Thought this question might fit better on 2A forum, but considering what's going on today, I didn't want to distract from any important news. Basically, my wife lost her father suddenly Saturday night. Over the past few weeks, he told my wife he had some pistols he wanted to pass down to us. He lived in Florida.
So, the question is, does anyone know how we legally get the firearms here. If we don't go get them personally, do they have to be shipped to an FFL? Does the transfer of ownership need to be noted in a will? I am figuring the fact that they are pistols complicates the whole situation. Unfortunately, not sure what type pistols they are yet.
I tried a search, but came up empty. Any info would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks, John

    Real short version -
Yes , being interstate they have to go thru an FFL .
If the firearms are specifically mentioned in the Will , they after probate they will be shipped by the Personal Representive ( aka Executor ) on behalf of The Estate. If not they will be shipped by the person otherwise handling the disposition of miscelanous property.

They will need to be transfered using the MSP procedures ( aka Form 77R ) , but under certain circumstances the entire inheretance can be transfered at once , instead of the 1/month .
