Davis Derringer was close . But it did have better trigger pull than 1st gen Raven .

The worst gun that I have ever owned is a Davis over and under doubled barrel derringer. I don't know why I haven't tossed it yet.

I accept donations ;) I only have an entire collection of this junk haha.

LOL that's pretty impressively bad if a barrel is softer than a brass punch...

Yeah, I was shocked but also not shocked...it gouged into it bad and the steel was starting to peen and almost "peel" out like a banana.

Well, range report is better than I expected....and still comical. The sights continued to walk left every 10 shots, and has some bearing on the group sizes, for sure. If I can find a way to stake this sight as fixed...the accuracy will vastly improve. The first 30 rounds (Pic 1) were kinda a bad group for 10 yards...on top of the walking sight, it turns out there was a burr in the bore towards the crown that wore itself down. Rounds 31-50 (Pic 2) are on the small target also at 10 yards, and hold much tighter. Notice the lack of keyholing...meaning it truly was the old smooth barrel. I am using the same ammo as before, and the gun cycled all 100 rounds flawlessly like it has since I got it. About 50-60 rounds in, the grip broke on the top corner (Pic 3). It turns out that little tiny grip piece that blew off holds the take down piece in place if not on the frame...and without that it freely flies off. Having a METAL piece on a spring held in by the thinnest weakest part of the PLASTIC grip...great design if I do say so myself. I saw this problem coming when I looked at the grips when brand new...one of those premonitions if you will. I'm going to leave it broken for the hell of it, because I honestly do not think glue will keep it together, and I can run it broken fine (just adding 1 extra step to reassembly). Overall, the gun ran fine, shot okay enough, and isn't broken YET. Next step is to crack the frame...if I'm lucky it'll be soon. It even still has rifling after the 100 rounds today (Pic 4). We'll see how it is after another 100 or so...another day, though.

Well, I've hit around 525 rounds through the gun total...250ish through this new barrel. The 2 pins holding in the barrel are now starting to show through as big divots in the rifling (unfocus your eyes and you can see just how big and apparent they are). They are getting worse as I shoot, and I don't think this barrel is going to be around much longer haha! I think it's going to shoot the barrel downrange with the projectile before long as these shear off and stretch thinner and thinner. Eyes are always worn...this could be interesting in another 100 rounds.

Oh, absolutely....but it's so bad that I can't help but want to see what happens next. Total destruction is the end goal. A frame crack, barrel hood crack/blowout (probably impending), or something of that sort will be the angel of death for this piece.

I'd be concerned about a catastrophic failure that leads to you being injured.

These things are overbuilt enough to where a cracked frame/slide/barrel hood will not be a catastrophic failure...just will put the gun out of commission permanently. There are a fair amount of pics online of these examples, if you're curious. Frame cracks rearward of of the barrel are the most common.

Is that one of the Beretta clones?

No , it was an original Taraus design , then part of a family of similar pistols in .40 and .45 .

I had one ( pre G2) . It actually was a decent , reliable pistol , that met everything expected of such pistols in its Era.

It just didn't fit * me * . It ended up in a trade with another member , and we were both highly pleased .

Charter Arms 22lr revolver. Double action trigger pull was beyond bad, single action was bordering on ok. Front Site was Noticeably bent to right.
