Well, of all the junk I've ever shot...this Jimenez JA Nine takes the cake. I purchased it brand new knowing it was going to be terrible...but this is astonishing and hilarious at the same time. In total, I have put ~250 rounds through this gun since I bought it. Today I took it to the range again, it was keyholing at 7 yards and 10 yards (target pic) REALLY bad...and upon inspection, yep, the rifling is already almost completely gone! I will give it points, I have had almost 0 problems with feeding and reliability through the round count...it DOES work and is reliable. The "target" sights continuously walk your groups 1" or so every 10-20 rounds and must be constantly re zeroed...this gun should have never had adjustables ever. I will tell you folks....if you want a joke gun?....this is the biggest joke there is. Hi Points are Cadillacs compared...in every department.

To put this into perspective....here's a ~9yard group when I first bought it...first magazine or so:

That looks like an excellent candidate if I needed to pistol whip someone.

I wonder how the stopping power of a properly expanding hollow point compares to a sideways/tumbling fmj at 7 yards

Are you using the right caliber of ammo?

Yes haha, absolutely. I'm not new to firearms. I bought this thing as a joke, and it was a good one. The pink grips came with it, and I put them on to add insult to injury. Its par for the course for Jimenez pistols...and this one is a shining example of quality. I can only wonder why they were sued into oblivion.

A true Styrone special....yeah. I can feel the stereotype holding it. It's like holding a brick; both in weight and feel.

The key holing at 7 yards has me wondering if it isnt a weird caliber like 9mm Largo (9X23) or 9mm Makarov (9x18), instead of 9mm Luger (9x19). When the barrel only lists 9mm as the caliber.

Then the Sicilian said, "Ha-ha, you fool! You fell victim to one of the classic blunders, the most famous of which is “Never get involved in a land war in Asia,” but only slightly less well known is this: “Never shoot a Jimenez pistol, even on paper, without eye protection!”"

Happily, I had never heard of this brand. I did a quick search and found this review and got a chuckle. From it, the author writes:

"Would I recommend this pistol to you? No. My local gun shop sells the Jimenez .380 for about $145 and though the gun ran fine for me, I would not recommend it unless you had no other options. And I mean, kitchen knives, baseball bats, or an angry housecat should be considered above this in terms of defensive weapons."

Looks like every round hit the target, so at least it works as advertised. And keyholing bullets mean cheap FMJs work as well or better than hollow points (large entry/exit wounds and tumbling within) :innocent0

Like the infamous Jennings Raven its by design.
Those dinky bullets leave a bigger bruise when impacting sideways at 10'

    You're looking this wrong !

It's perfect for CCI Shotshells .

A customer made that joke earlier haha! If I can find a barrel for $20 or less shipping included, I'll likely go ahead and get it. If it eats a second barrel...that would be even funnier.

Well....another barrel is inbound. Let's see how it fares 2nd barrel around, eh? The smoothie will remain as backup as a "feature" barrel for said shotshells ha!
