    If you really want to test it I have hxp will prob go straight through it though.

    I'd be slightly worried about the core bouncing back though

    If it needs it I'll hard surface it after repair. Looks like your picture was with the plate sitting against something when shot at, I'm hoping that the spinning action upon impact let's some of the energy transfer into the spin, if not I've got all winter to work on it.

    the previous cratering was when it had a 2x4 frame and a chain to hang from and swing freely. hanging from a chain didn't change things, swinging won't. rifle bullet + non AR-rated steel = craters. period. surface hardening won't change that.
