I don't know the law in MD, but in some states the LEO has no leeway. If one or both parties show injuries, they take the ride.

    Severn Md.
I've seen a couple statements in the thread stating she initiated contact and that she had told him to leave. i just don't see that in the article, if you are pulling from something else please post the link.

Ms. Bateman said Mr. Bateman told her to get out of the house. …she was going to leave the house, but did not have any money. Ms. Bateman grabbed Mr. Bateman’s money clip because it had cash.”
As the argument escalated, Mrs. Bateman called to her 14 year old for help:
he came into the master bedroom and saw Mr. Bateman holding his mother down on the bed. “
The boy was able to pull Bateman off his mother according to the report, but the fight spilled over to the hallway.
Ms. Bateman said Mr. Bateman grabbed her again and she slapped him in the face…….Ms. Bateman said Mr. Bateman threw her into a wall in the craft room where she hit the back of her head.”
When officers arrived on scene they noticed damage inside of the home and small injuries on Mrs. Bateman. She declined medical treatment on scene.
Sheriff Bateman admitted to officers that he and his wife had argued and that he had been drinking. He denied striking his wife but said he did hold her down to take his money clip back from her.

Obviously there could be missing elements and the other 2 side of the story, but all i've seen is that He was holding her down when the son came in, He grabbed her, then she slapped him. He had been drinking which may have led to the altercation. I

Ironic that the an anti (not resisting sb281, but supporting it), would have his guns taken.

Here's the latest article, might already be in this thread. http://m.arundelnewsnet.com/breakin...560-0001-11e6-bff9-e780b27f7521.html?mode=jqm

I don't know either of them, either could be 100% wrong, or both could have exacerbated the situation.

In any case, it's going to be near impossible to get reelected. Likely we will have a real conservative Sheriff next election. I suggest we stand behind one who will stand behind us on gun issues. We need a sheriff that is willing to testify in Annapolis on gun issues that harm citizens or infringe on their rights.

Someone told me he had attended a bull and oyster roast for some fundraiser earlier that day. If true, make your own conclusions from there.

Just a little AA County Sheriff dept. tidbit. Deputies, until about 94 when George Johnson became Sheriff, were only allowed to carry off duty with a MD carry permit.

Some states have laws that say who can arrest a sitting sheriff, just asking if MD has such a law?

Nah. I never heard of it. What jail would he transport him to with his black coroner van? LOL

Some states the Coroner's office works in conjunction with the Sheriff dept. and a coroner could be some type of Deputy. Maybe this is what you are thinking?

I'm still convinced the only reason he was elected was so people could say they voted "Bat(e)man for Sheriff"

    Four words:

    "Bitch set me up!"

Not impossible - improbable, but it depends upon the man and how the average voter feels about him. Marion Barry was a felon and continued to get elected.
