Good Lord...look at those photos. I'm just curious, and I doubt anyone has the answer, but how many people were victims of violent crime in Boston last week?

What would happen if law enforcement used those types of resources to squash gangs and drug dealers? I mean a serious show of force and manpower until the bag guys were captured and arrested...and not plea bargained out.

Why would anyone object or interfere to a search under those circumstances? In that situation they can look anywhere they want in my house or property. I'm sure objection to a search would draw more suspicion. Like it or not when the FBI is looking for a terrorist you don't have a lot of rights, they are going to do what they need to do to and deal with any problems with homeowners later.

Problem is this could be you. The left is already labeling gun owners as "extremists" so calling you a "terrorist" because you have strong opions about gun rights isn't far away. By your logic, merely labeling you as one or the other is enough to allow this unconstitutional search and seizure.

These incidences should be prosecuted to the maximum extent of the law. I don't give a crap if it's a terrorist manhunt or not. That's not the principles this country is founded on. Do it by the book, or change the book!

And to think, they didn't even find the guy with that army and violating people's rights. A civilian found the guy in his back yard and called it in. This is a precedent. In extreme times the rules are re-written by those with power....think Lincoln. Best way to avoid this is to move way out of urban areas.

Would be interesting to hear who ordered those procedures, and by what authority, although they are probably covered in the Patriot Act, or some other document where an individual declares and emergency and rights are suspended.

Detroit had 411 homicides in 2012. New York City had 414. They should park an armored vehicle on every corner and search every home daily, and ask for your papers every time they see you.....not!

I don't give a damn about this puke. I hope he is tried, convicted, and put to death.

However I stand up for the rights. Not the person.

Freedom is not free and whether you like it or not, we all have the rights and if you give them away because you are terrified (thought that was the goal of terrorists) they win, we all lose.

I would have thought such ardent supporters of the second amendment would support the 4th and 5th as well.

The reality is we really don't have to many rights left. There's nothing you can do when you answer the door and get thrown out of your house by 15 or 20 S.W.A.T. if you make a wrong move you and or your loved ones could pay the ultimate price. Tough place to be in Great question

When hasn't it been a civilian?

Was looking at that video and wow, what a predicament. I felt violated as an American just watching that and couldn't help thinking about what it must've been like for the Jews in Nazi Germany. Or what it would be like to for the government to be searching for a lot of terrorists in multiple cities with huge radiuses.

Also, shocked me to see military forces involved. Can't believe we are paying for our own demise. Or at least that's what it felt like. Why did the pat down the people coming out of their homes?

Thats what I think. If you give up one then they think you should give them all up. I will not do that. And I will teach my children to never give them up.

    FYI

    4th Amendment and warrantless searches:

Exigent circumstances arise when the law enforcement officers have reasonable grounds to believe that there is an immediate need to protect their lives, the lives of others, their property, or that of others, the search is not motivated by an intent to arrest and seize evidence, and there is some reasonable basis, to associate an emergency with the area or place to be searched

Ever watch the youtube videos on Border Patrol setting up 50-100 miles inside the border with check points? I think they are called "inland security checks" There is a real army out there. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=u4Ku17CqdZg#!

Explain that to my two German Shepherds who would only know that their property is being invaded and attack. What would the police do, shoot my dogs?

I'm sure they would tell you to put the dogs away and if you didn't comply then sadly yes they probably would have. This was an extremely rare situation and they did what they thought was right at the time. The government taking action like this in times of crisis also allows us to be free.

I'm really starting to dislike the phrase "I have nothing to hide". Most of us don't until the rules get switched on us halfway into the game. The last thing I need is someone kicking in my door, seizing and then destroying my firearms because someone wrongfully said I have porn of underage girls on my computers...which just ain't right 'cause Kate Upton is legal to my knowledge. What the Eff do I do if I don't have the $$$ for a lawyer to sue to get my guns and computers back? It's not as if the ACLU is going to provide one for the likes of me pro bono!

Do you think they would give me time to crate them. I wonder?
First off, they should know there were no strangers in the house due to the dogs. Wonder if any dogs were shot in Boston during this event.

I heard Frank Lautenberg a Senator from New Jersey said something in regard to the purchase of gun power today, for all you re-loaders. That might be there next straw man.

"Two gun power control amendments are coming to the table, for the explosive material back ground check act"

No way would I allow my home to be searched. But I do submit to the Border Patrol checkpoints, as I travel frequently in the South West. I have never even been asked for an ID, just a where you going, where did you come from.

If they asked to search my car, I'd respectfully decline. But this has never happened.

However, I have been searched entering military bases a few times over the years, and your rights stop at the gate there. You don't get to say no, so I make the most of my rights off base.

I'll be the nicest, most respectful, citizen the peace office had ever dealt with and will do everything to put him or her at ease. And I have absolutely nothing to hide, but I take my rights seriously, and have fought hard to defend them, and will not submit to unwarranted searches.

Operative words here "not motivated by an intent"... But could be used for...? Could be cause for return to..?

Those who sacrifice liberty for security deserve neither. today we are being guarded by the loss of liberty but tomorrow it will strangle us. It was men who lived in a time where they did not have these freedoms that they made laws to guard them. yes being forced out is following the law, but the law and what is right do not always travel the same path. so go ahead and be taken out of your home, surrender and live another day. that is the same tactic that was taken at wounded knee only they didn't live to fight another day.......they just got a casino 300 years later.
