LOL, I was just reading Lecke's description of his time at the range at Paris Island in "Helmet For My Pillow". He describes his first encounter with sitting as a torture session that ended with a permanently extended shoulder joint...

Nah, prone is what does the torture to me, I end up sitting here after the match with ice on the elbow and two fingers of whiskey on the rocks.......maybe that isn't torture.....:innocent0

How many sighters and how many total rounds are needed.

Haven't shot this since I put it back together so its going to be an experiment. Any chance to use the 100 range to find paper at least

5 sighters and 30 for score, but bring extra.

200 really isn't much different than 100, because the targets are scaled up. If you have an idea how many clicks to come up at 100. just come up 2 clicks more for 200.

Also, you don't need a SLED. I don't have one, and I don't think most people do.

    Here's how I single load:

    Lock bolt open.
Place cartridge about half - three quarters into the chamber.
Close bolt about halfway, then let it slam shut the rest of the way.

    Easy and safe.

5 sighters. 10 rounds slow fire prone. 10 rounds rapid fire prone. 10 rounds slow fire offhand. I could be wrong but if you think you can hit a target at 100Y you should be somewhere on paper at 200Y. Dial in from there.

The rifle is accurate but I changed the stock and rear sight and haven't shot it since that's why I was concerned. Well that and never having shot at 200 yards even with a scope much less irons.

Don't be intimidated by 200 yards.

Really, 200 is just like 100, for all practical purposes.

The target is scaled up, so it looks exactly the same.

At 200, wind really isn't a factor, at least with .30-06.

You'll shoot the same score at 200 that you do at 100.

Come on out and shoot for the hell of it. You will be glad you did.

Is the cut off 830 am still?

I'm sure Dave won't run you off if you're a few minutes past 8:30. This is an informal, friendly thing. But do try to be there by 8:30, and a little earlier isn't bad. We'll stand around and talk and eat donuts.

I look forward to meeting you. I'll be the guy with the rifle.

Now get to bed. We need to get up and get to the range in the morning.

We take reality into account, the cutoff will be 9 am...ish. There is nothing worse that pulling in the lot to shoot a match and hearing firing......

Don't let the notary thing hold you up. We can work with it.

The car was packed then I woke up at 3am throwing up and spent two hours in the bathroom. When finally laid back down I passed out till 10.

How soon is the next one? Here or anywhere else for that matter.

    Thanks for coming out guys.

As you know, based on our discussions there will not be a lot of these next year (just not a lot of room on the schedule), but I am working on planning something neat....

    Stay tuned for more details.

The Maryland Rifle Club runs about 4 of these matches every year at the AGC range.
