My suggestion would be the M&P .22L that was released at the SHOT show this year. It will be a while for it to get to market and then onto the handgun roster. Probably be less than $400 and no one would have one in their collection yet.

    I like this Idea here.

    Or a GP100 maybe.

RIA 1911. You can get them from cdnn for 400.00 and they run. I know bc I have one already. Thats my vote. Second choice would be Smith M&P in 9mm

why even ask? 1911 will make it a classic choice if it's a safequeen.

If we plan on giving it some range time then we should go with something more practical like a Sig or a Glock (dont know much about M&Ps)

    1911 or M&P .22

    Price pending, I'm interested too.

100 year anniversary of the 1911, that's cool.

The M&P 22L would keep the price (both buying and shooting) low, that's great.

GP100 is my favorite .357, that would be something else.

The other option of just having special engraved grips made is the most economical solution. Very interested in an RIA 1911, and the engraved grips would work.

    just my 2-cents :)
