I'll just say this; schools have 3D printers. It's just a matter of time before a parent (maybe being a troll, or maybe just none too bright) demands that 3D printers be pulled from schools since they can be used to create "Ghost Guns".

Well I don't want to give you guys a hard time since we are all of the same mind set. MSI warned us that this was poorly-written legislation. I should have made an effort to testify against it.

True. Does however not answer the question; what makes the 3D printer "tools to manufacture Privately Made Firearms"?

I'm guessing that it's because he is prohibited?? Who knows?
But if they do have a problem with those 3D printers, Micro-Center probably sold 1000 back before Christmas for $99 each. I haven't used mine yet but I have a feeling making "Ghost Guns" is going to be way over my head! LOL!

There is a social media post (https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=256360233354385&set=a.151857237138019) showing a 3D printer as part of "tools to manufacture Privately Made Firearms". The picture implies that a 3D printer can be used to make a "Ghost Gun" and is illegal. Pretty sure this is NOT the case - or is it??

Here is the problem. Makes him prohibited person.

As officers approached the vehicle, they could smell the odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. Officers then made contact with the driver of the vehicle, Lawrence Harrison. Harrison was operating the vehicle on a suspended drivers license.

They already did that. Unless you can name a high school that still has a shop class.

Not a high school, but Montgomery County Community College has a shop and machining class.

I totally agree with you. I just take exception to the FB post implying that 3D printers are illegal in MoCo. I don't see a justification for confiscating a 3D printer. Next we are going to need a permit for a 3D printer. And then to have a metal shop.

Same rationale that a teaspoon and a Bic lighter are "drug paraphernalia."

Went to Walmart and Target ... can buy spoons by the dozen, cash and carry, no questions asked. And the Bic lighters are in the impulse-buy area at the checkout registers next to the candy and tabloids ... where the children have ready access to them. Why won't anyone think of the children???
