Lurker here, so figured I'd introduce myself.
Live in Westminster, work in Hunt Valley. NRA member for longer than I can remember (~35 years).
When the public range opened years ago in Westminster, the Spousal Unit gifted me a membership. So I spent some time there on and off for a couple years. Brought the kids a bunch of times when they were young, to teach them about guns & shooting. Now they're all grown (but still living in my house...wtf?!?)
Then other things took over, and I haven't been out shooting for a long time.
I came out of the woodwork on Saturday, dragging a friend who is new to guns, out to the Frederick show to pick up some ammo, particularly to feed some new guns acquired in the past few months (incl. a Beretta 92FS, a Marlin XT-22, and a 10/22...bought while I thought .22 ammo would remain plentiful and cheap ). Would still like to acquire an AR while I can to supplement my Mini-14, but when the Spousal Unit learned of my other recent acquisitions, I got "the look". So, that seems like it will be an unfulfilled wish.
We were redistricted into Van Hollen's Congressional district, so I wrote that DB a letter introducing myself as one of his new Carroll County constituents and instructing him, as my Congressman, not to vote for any new gun legislation. It appears that one does not "instruct" Mr. Van Hollen to do anything, particularly from Carroll County. The reply I received indicates that he clearly places a higher value on his own opinions than mine. So although we are served very well in Annapolis by Stocksdale, Getty and Ready, I went DINO for the sole purpose of voting against Van Hollen, and am working on getting others to do the same.
So, cheers to this community!
