Is it a really good training facility because I would like to bring my two sons to train.

Depending on where you are in Baltimore County and the training you are looking for, try the Associated Gun Clubs of Baltimore in Marriottsville. Over 15 instructors use it for offering training. I am sure you can find one who would meet your needs.

I've been to Heritage for some concurrent training a few times, including popping in before they officially "opened" on a day off in late June. The most friendly and professional civilian range I've ever seen.

Helpful to reloaders trying to recover brass. Suppressor and defensive shooting friendly. Shooting groups, and want a chair? I never had to ask, or throw away my perforated targets.

RSOs are competent and not nazis if you do your part and follow the rules and basic etiquette. They are approachable if you have a question or want to talk, are far from lazy, and willing to work with your needs as a shooter. I plan on bringing my Better Half for a date night once in a while to spice things up.

I think their vision of a welcoming and friendly place for people to learn is well executed, and professionals aren't limited to Barney style policies that limit their personal training either (such as no sillhouettes or arbitrary numbers of rounds fired in a certain amount of time limits).

I don't work for them and am not affiliated in any way, just a positive review worth .02 cents after some suspicious posts. IMHO, the more ranges and professional businesses that don't scare off new folks to opening their minds due to stereotypes, the better. It helps with the bleeding over of DC/NOVA folks into Frederick County. There is a difference in mindset.

Just been there with my wife. Outstanding facility. We were greeted, asked to sit for a basic information session and escorted to the range. The facility is 5 stars. Only wish I could bring my son. Their range is limited to 18+. In addiition to shooting my own, I tried out one of the 1911's they had. The rental selection is immense. I am also a member of AGC, but on a rainy, cold day, you can't beat this. Congrats to the owners for opening up a 1st class facility.

If your son is over 10 years old, he can shoot quite a few things at TMGN, as long as you are with him at the shooting stall.

    Behind enemy lines...
SITREP: Took my wife to Heritage on Sat...sort of out of the blue she said she wanted to know more about firearms. After talking it over we decided to sign her up for the Basic Handgun course at Heritage in Frederick. It was a two part course, first part basic handgun training/safety/familiarization culminating in range time with a Glock 17. Safety is emphasized constantly. Second part of the class was for the HQL training, the required nonsense you have to do to get a HQL (note: the Heritage folks told me they will soon be able to do fingerprints there so getting your HQL will be a one-stop process). So anyway, the wife is now interested in getting her HQL and possibly even buying her own handgun. Now I gotta get her to join the NRA!!
Bottom line is Heritage is a very nice facility and knowledgeable instructors. They also have a retail area as well primarily focused on new firearms. Big selection. They also have an extensive rental pool of guns to rent or to try before you buy. Range facilities are very nice. Handguns up to .44mag, rifles up to .308 and shotguns ok for buckshot and slugs. I did think their prices were kind of high in their retail store but that said while I was waiting while she was in class, a number of folks came in and made purchases. s.

Shot there over the weekend. Very nice facility. Prices were a little high and I dont like the option for no membership like the machine gun nest offers. Staff was very nice and helpful. One thing I did not like was they only allow 1 firearm at the bench at a time. Casing a gun up, putting it down, uncasing a new gun then reloading different ammo. Kills a lot of time IMO and I did not like that. I like shooting more then 1 firearm when I shoot. Ended up having to buy another hour. Might not be as big of a deal if shooting a lane by yourself, i was sharing a lane. They do have a nice retail shop too. Some prices were steep, and some were pretty fair. I think ill be heading in tomorrow to pick up a new toy :)

I went to Heritage for the first time last Wednesday afternoon because they had a special on 9mm rentals for that day. It was very quiet when I got there and they quickly got me registered, trained and on the lanes. The staff were very courteous and helpful, the place was clean, and I had a great time testing the six or seven 9mm handguns they had out on the range. I have a membership at TMGN, so I'll probably go there for my regular shooting activities, but I have no hesitation recommending Heritage as a great place to go to, especially if they are having a special of some sort. I also plan to sign up for a shotgun training class there later this month. Great new addition to our neck of the woods!

I heard a full-fledged AD and sponsored story for these guys on WNEW this morning.
The message was all about service, personal protection, training and safety.

VERY pleasant surprise to hear on a major local station

This place is awesome. I went there a few weeks back as a date with my wife as she wanted to get some trigger time in. We were the only people in there on a Sunday. The Redskins were on at 1pm so I attributed that to being the only folks there. Super clean, super friendly staff, awesome place. Only issue was my FNP-45 going kaboom in my hands. Glad it happened to me and not my wife. Can't recommend this place enough and glad it's open and I don't have to go to Chantilly now to shoot.

    you can shoot buckshot?

ETA-wow-they said as long as it's not steel-good to go.

I shot buckshot there a couple of times now. Nice place. Clean. Friendly range officers, who stay out of your way if you want. This is the place I plan to take pretty wife to learn how to shoot. The Thursday night date night seems like a good deal.
