Got to be 21 to own a weapon? How's that work?
"(a)  The militia of the United States consists of all able-bodied males at least 17 years of age and, except as provided in section 313 of title 32 , under 45 years of age who are, or who have made a declaration of intention to become, citizens of the United States and of female citizens of the United States who are members of the National Guard.
    US Code, Title 10, 311

Unfortunately I don't think that will help
Other wise we would have the 18/21 long gun/handgun rules now.

Very dangerous to mix pro and anti gun bills together in a state where the Governor can line item veto what he wants.

There is a 20 year old man in Florida who is taking on 'dicks' and 'walmart' for not selling him a 10/22 rifle. The State law still says 21 years of age. I hope he succeeds in his law suit against these Anti-American companies. They both have lost any purchases from me or mine. They need to be BOYCOTTED!

Democrats voted to oppose this bill, which means Republicans providing the votes to pass this and are voting for gun control

They are not going to have a job come next election. Their base will abandon them and the progressives/liberals won't vote for them because emotions. Nothing like shooting yourself in the foot.

I just cannot believe Republicans in FL are going to pass gun control and ban rifles for 18-21 yr olds without Dem support. This is monumentally stupid. Democrat voters snd independents disposed to gun control vote Dem and are not going to reward Republicans by switching. Republicans and independents disposed to be pro-2A are going to stay away or cast protest votes. Its a lose-lose for Republicans.

They will wake up Friday when the smoke clears and realize how stupid this was.

    Also Violates Due Process

Don't think it's been mentioned here- the Florida bill violates the 5th and 14th Amendment requirement for due process, and 2nd Amendment rights in myriad ways, by depriving those who have not been convicted of the right to bear arms. It gives the right for the state to remove a suspect's guns, and forces the suspect to then prove that the suspect is not a threat. Guilty until proven innocent. https://patriotgunnews.com/2018/03/...iscation-gov-says-he-will-veto-pro-gun-parts/
    and:

    2. The respondent shall have the burden of proving by a preponderance of the evidence that the respondent does not pose a significant danger of causing personal injury to self or others by having in his or her custody or control, purchasing, possessing, or receiving a firearm. The court may consider any relevant evidence, including evidence of the considerations listed in paragraph (3)(c).

Monumentally stupid is exactly the phrase for it. And they've not only hurt themselves but the entire national Republican Party. As seen on this forum, gun owners across the country are taking notice and are not happy with a party they once considered an ally. The democrats played them like a harp. Machiavelli couldn't have planned it any better. Dems just sat back, used the armed teachers facet as an excuse to vote no, and let the Republicans screw themselves.

In a few months, after the emotion has passed, no doubt the R's who supported this bill will be wondering wtf they were thinking and will be scrambling to kiss the 2A community's ass. And it won't work. Especially once people start hearing stories about 19 and 20 year old combat veterans at some of Florida's many military bases not being able to buy so much as a single shot duck gun. Stories I am sure the dems and their media allies will be happy to emphasize for the voters.

Congrats Florida Republican politicians. You just did the dems work for them and flipped the state to solid blue. Morons.
