Sweet!
Looking at a few complete uppers on gunbroker right now. Pricing them out then gonna look at parts and see if it’s cheaper to build or go for pre built one.

You can get a better upper by building it yourself, if you do it right.Looking at a few complete uppers on gunbroker right now. Pricing them out then gonna look at parts and see if it’s cheaper to build or go for pre built one.

Stay away from aluminum gas blocks and castle nuts. Use steel.Yea just gotta do some research on barrels and if gas blocks matter with brand and all that. I’m just stuck between 10.5 or 12.5 for the 5.56

With a short barrel, I'd recommend a SLR adjustable gas block.Yea just gotta do some research on barrels and if gas blocks matter with brand and all that. I’m just stuck between 10.5, 11.5 or 12.5 for the 5.56

SLR blocks are the standard that everybody tries to copy. The copies aren't really worth it. I'm running SLR adjustable blocks on everything I can.I was gonna go with the aero .750 adjustable cause I was going to spend more on the bcg and barrel

Some upper receivers are "thermal fit" which means the receiver needs to be slightly heated up before a barrel will fit into the receiver extension. You can't use that tool on thermal fit receivers. You run the risk of breaking the receiver.I see why u said get this tool. Just came across a yt video of a dude banging away on his barrel cause it was a tight fit

You want to use the Aeroshell grease. It will prevent galvanic corrosion from occuring between the steel barrel nut and aluminum receiver threads. Can I use Permatex Anti-Seize Lube for like my barrel nut or do I need to use grease?

AeroShell 64 grease aka AeroShell MS 33.You want to use the Aeroshell grease. It will prevent galvanic corrosion from occuring between the steel barrel nut and aluminum receiver threads.
Not a bad idea but I feel like you shouldn't have to do that.Add these to your build tool list:

Well, if you're spending under $200 for a barrel, you probably aren't doing yourself much good(but you still are), but if you are spending upwards of $350-$450 on a barrel, it's foolish not to.Not a bad idea but I feel like you shouldn't have to do that.
