The problem I have has is game warden interpretations. I used to argue with Ray Harner when he was still working. He said he would fine anyone close enough to hear domestic geese. So if the farm next to you had some, he would fine you. I told him we both know its a waste of time hunting the farm next to live birds. He said he didn't care and he's give paper.

Other place was vegetable farms. Guys grow sweet corn and pick by hand and it deformed or not a full ear they throw it on the ground. Then they brush hog the rows and left over ears. Game wardens wanted to fine everyone hunting them as baited fields. The book said grain left from normal agricultural practices is not baiting. Unsellable ear disposed in the field is normal agricultural practice for vegi farmers, but the game warden thought they don't do that with the shelled corn they've seen.

Having worked closely with NRP officers, here is what I learned.

The guys and gals who have grown up hunting and fishing, understand the regs and are more prone to give you warnings for inadvertent infractions. On the other hand, the people who transfer in from a city police force or new hires who have never been in the great outdoors, will usually cite you and let the judge sort it out.

What was the chaos or controversy at Schraders?
Lack of organizational jurisprudence ensuring regulatory compliance measures and client conduct on behalf of the management.
My thoughts were always they were first rate but evidently thats not the case.
I recommended them in another thread having never utilized their services but again, will publicly recant that statement a second time.

Yeah, I know a guy who had a problem transferring grain from the combine into bulk carriers.
Some wardens aren't tenderfeet and grew up hunting fishing and farming, just as described in an earlier post.
Why people consider their own decision based behaviors as not a big deal, escapes me.

    Yup.
Many now are former MPs, from other LEO agencies, etc, little or no experience or understanding of hunting and fishing.

Many are CLUELESS these days, unfortunately.

My neighbors son three ago became a MD NRP Officer, great kid, but never hunted a day in his life or ever fired a firearm.

When asking questions about certain hunting/fishing regulations, you immediately pickup he is swimming in a whirlpool.

    Very sad.

Yeah, but there still a few good ones!
Saw one come up, hunting, fishing, trapping.
Figured he'd go one way or the other, NRP now. A GOOD one!

Hopefully he’s not involved with commercial fisheries. That alone is an overwhelming undertaking for anyone.
The ones I know are highly developed in many disciplines.

Only got 1 but then again I was hunting with a 4 year old lol. He did great! Totally worth it. Coulda shot about 6 more but was doing kid stuff so they flew over out of range before we realized. Got some great pics and let him shoot his BB gun (heavily supervised) at fallen black walnuts. Really enjoyed today!

Taking him catfishing tomorrow out on the boat. The only thing that worries me is the down time!

I was fortunate to pass HS, are u saying: Schraders didn’t understand the rules so rules weren’t properly enforced. This resulting in a shit show.

    I think?

    They understand rules I'm certain.
They also have the opportunity to publicly declare what occurred at their own venue just like they declared they would do the other day.
I never went to High School just so you know. But Im no slob hunter and do not condone such, that you can bank on.

Just take some real stinky bait and you won't have much downtime. ;)

lol - Ray Harner is a blast from the past. I had a couple cases with him and he checked us several times in our blind off of route 67.

Whether you get charged for something varies from game warden to game warden and LEO to LEO.

I went last afternoon on someones farm and didn't do a bit of good at all!
Right in between two just cut cornfields, a nice pond strips of woods etc.
Bad timing I guess. Some storm clouds coming in from the SE, over fed birds who knows.
I missed a few but had a good time though.

^^^ I probably coulda get 6-7 but only ended up with 1. Had my son (4) and spent half the time talking to him, opening chip bags, telling him
    No that’s not a dove.

Took him on the patuxent yesterday and he caught over 20 fish. The one puppy drum was probably a keeper but back she went!
