Cool! Now that you know what to expect for testing and the jitters are over then you should do better on the next general test, plus a little bit more study.

Bands have been good, been doing a bit of HF mobile DX while driving around this weekend.

Jitters!!! I was sweating bullets!! Although I felt good about my answers, you never know but it worked out in the end and the VE team was first rate. Got one week off and back at it on the 27th (General Exam Class)

I GOT MY TICKET TODAY!!!!!! I also took the General test (without study) Let's just say I got some work to do. Should have my call sign Monday evening.

Congratulations, same thing happened to me. Put about the same effort into studying for the general and passed it fine. Now to work on my extra....

Congrats! Welcome to another expensive hobby! I also need to study and go for General Class. Anybody recommend a cheap and good study guide?

There are some free ones out there such as:

    http://kb6nu.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/09/2011-No-Nonsense-General-Class-License-Study-Guide.pdf

The ARRL book is very good for reference to find out how you got to the answer.

You will do a lot better if you understand the answer as oppose to just memorizing the answer and not understanding why you got there. As there are lots of possible questions for each element. If you understand how you get the answer you dont need to memorize all the potential questions and answers.

Enjoy - Gary (and Extra class ham)

AARC uses the ARRL guides for Tech, General and Extra. I have subscriptions on HamExamOnline for Tech and General. I use the No nonsense study guides for cramming a day or two before the exam.

Those No-nonsense guides are great! I used them to pass both General and Extra. That was back in 2010 tho, I think the question pool has been updated since then.

I used the Radio Shack books to get my Advanced many years ago.

My wife read the RS book on the way to Laural and passed her Tech+ first time.

    The material is not hard.

And I keep my Advanced, as it is the only ticket the proves you passed code test. :)

Wow.. More and more ham's here.. Updated mine to General a few years back. Really want to pick up another HF Rig, maybe something I can move between my truck and home.

Anyone have any rigs they would be willing to trade for guns/ammo? :)
