Anyone up for a get together before the Hamfest? I dont know of any good place near the fairgrounds. I will probally ride the "loot-rail" since I have a station near me. whats the deal with parking there? free?

There's a 24 hr diner, with a liquor license about 1 block south on York Rd, Nautilus I think is the name . Food is not bad.

Parking is free..i stopped going to Timonium a few years ago, it is merely a shell of what it once was, but if you're looking for beef jerky, junk knives and LED flashlights, that's your place

If you want to get your license, order this book: Ham Radio License Manual (2nd Edition) available at http://www.amazon.com/Ham-Radio-Lic...2171&sr=8-1&keywords=ham+radio+license+manual or http://www.arrl.org/shop/Ham-Radio-License-Manual-Revised-2nd-Edition/?page=1. If you really want to get your license, you can plow through this book in less than a week and pass the test.

Amazon is a cheap place to buy the manuals but be careful because for some reason they still sell out of date ones for past question pools.

It's not the end of the world if you get a older one since the questions don't change that much but you won't get what you pay for.

Advanced Class here. And I am keeping it, as it is the only ticket that proves I passed a code test.

Now that's something I never thought about - I never took the Extra exam - just cuz I'm lazy.

I got a HF rig that I might be interested in trading for .......Dual or Tri band mobile or maybe some gun stuff.It is a Icom IC 735 with books mic and power cord. Will entertain any reasonable offer. Great HF rig.

I'm currently taking the Tech Exam course at AARC. Lots of knowledgeable folks there!

Yeah, AARC is a good club. The clubhouse is an old cold war Nike radar site, the missile site was down the road where the Police range is at.

The gun club and range I belong to is also just down the road from there also.

So Timonium is a crappy Hamfest now? I haven't been active for a few years. I haven't been to a hamfest for a long time. I used to love Howard Co. and the one in Berryville. I like walking around looking for the great deal in all the vast amounts of crap. I am not interested in the survival junk, or computer stuff. I want antennas,towers,radios.
