I wish IDPA would stop requiring it.

I do too. IDPA did at least limit them some in this year's rulebook. Tac reloads are no longer allowed on-the-clock for scenario stages. They are still allowed on-the-clock for standards stages such as stage 3 of the classifier.

For any sanctioned matches, standards stage round counts are limited to 20 percent of the total round count.

I discussed this in my carbine class.

The instructor came up with a few scenarios for a tactical reload. But now were under serious time pressure.

One instance is you are part of a team and behind cover, but want to move. If you are doing covering fire for others to move, do a tac reload, so you have a full mag to use in providing covering fire.

And the other is after action, tac reload to have a full mag when you holster in case you run into another situation.

Not a single person doing HD.

Let's talk real life and citizen shootout carry.

I don't think anyone is disputing when you are changing venue and starting fresh on a new action. But during a "lull".
There are no lulls. There is either action or action that is stopped and over.

    Agreed.

Just pointing out some places that a tac reload might be used.

But in a individual citizen shoot out, no way.

Run it dry and reload as quickly as possible.
