I still load and shoot a ton of .300 BLK. I need to go hunt up more brass, in fact.

I do tend to lean more towards 110s for .300, but I've shot plenty of 125, too. Mostly doing subs these days for cost reasons.

So far with 110gr Hornady VMax out of a suppressed 300BLK SBR, suppressed 16" 300BLK, and unsuppressed 16" 300BLK, it is one shot kills on 11 out of 11 deer.
Interested in getting an upper, what would be a step up from Palmetto State Armory, a little step? :) $300-400 range for the upper.

Do not keep 5.56 mags and 300blk mags loaded on the table at the same time. 300blk will chamber into 5.56 with not good results.

IMO the most versatile, and arguably the best caliber for most things under 300yds. More power than 5.56 with supers, similar sound to suppressed 9mm with subs, efficient from short barrels, actually better dwell/gas timing. Less gas blowback, less gas needed for operation. Light recoil, stupid accurate, including suppressed subs. Just need to swap a barrel. Similar ballistics to 7.62x39, but solves most every issue with that caliber in ARs, and better ammo design makes it inherently much more accurate with a much wider range of bullet weights. I have a lot of ARs in several calibers, but the 9" 300BO is the best HD firearm I own, and outperformed just about all other ARs in a carbine course a couple years ago. It was my favorite, at least till I built the 6" PDW also pictured.

    A 16" upper or a short upper?

Honestly, PSA is a lot better than BCA. Also, I build my own.
Oh yeah, 16”. Not set up to build. I see BCM but those are near 3x $$$ of PSA. Not interested in Bear Creek, or Radical.
Use would be utility, range, possibly hunting, HD. PSA might be the choice in my budget.
