I mean replicas as in non WW2 m1 garands. Not looking for a collector gun, I want the cheapest, fully functional m1

The majority of them were made during WWII, and the majority of those were made by Springfield, with about half a million made by Winchester. The cheapest M1's would have a Springfield WWII receiver. There are postwar M1's made by SA, Harrington & Richardson, and International Harvester, but they tend to cost a little bit more because fewer were made, the fit and finish was done to a higher standard, and they tend to be in nicer condition. Beretta and Breda made M1's in Italy postwar for various countries, but those cost even more since they are so rare. Only a small number of the Danish surplus ones were imported by Century. Those rifles were usually stripped into parts kits and receivers left in Canada.

The cheapest M1's you can find on the open market are probably South Korean imports from the 1980's and 1990's. They're usually safe to fire and will send lead forwards, but can be in horribly worn condition. I've seen them in worst case condition with firewood grade stocks, rifling gone and the bore looking like a sewer pipe, import marks so deep the bore is out of round, and op rods that are out of spec. Even then, they go for $600-900 simply because the sellers know that someone will pay that price.

I wouldn't recommend buying a commercial, cast receiver like the kind that Century built from parts stripped off Italian receivers. They're not usually unsafe, but they're usually unreliable and have bad resale value.

OP is all over the map on this thread. Seriously:

    1. How cheap is cheap ? Criteria:

    2 Garand on purpose ?

    3. Semiauto.308 on purpose ?

    4. .30 cal bore size bolt action ?

Ruger American can be had at Walmart for your budget. It should get the job done but 200+ yard 1-.5 Moa accuracy expectations will cost you more money the the ruger American.
