I just stumbled onto this, but Joe, if your going to stray from your wheel-guns and dive into semi-auto, I fully support either a 1911 or a Browning Hi-Power. Either one would serve you well.

You just don't seem like a Glock guy to me... :D

So Joe, any thoughts on the ideas given?

    Tactical Tupperwear? Glock 17/19?

    Ruger or other single action?

    1911?

    .22 rimfire of some type?

    S&W K Frame?

When I first posted, I thought I could narrow the field......just the opposite happened. :D

The good thing is, here in NC, the gun show prices for used stuff is still pretty low. I don't plan on buying new. I don't need a nice, shiny thing with a box and paperwork and all that stuff. I'm going to be using the gun, not the box. From working the gun shows for over a year, I have made some contacts who will give me a good price on a used gun.

There is a gun shop down here that shows up at all the local shows with NIB S&W J frames in .38 Special +P for $349. I might just wind up with one of those.

Let me toss this out there... The FNP is an awesome gun at a great price. I got one awhile back and my only regret is not getting another one. 400 or so would be my guess, and I once found factory mags for $7! It has never malfunctioned through at least 2 thousand rounds and has been in many hands. I honestly love it and wouldn't trade or sell it ever. I believe it was based off the Hi Power, but I could be wrong.
If your going Semi try an FNP. Let me know if your in MD and we can hit the AGC. Good luck in your quest!

PS it has ambi controls for us leftys!

Walther PPQ 9mm... Easily my favorite handgun to shoot besides a 1911... Its like a striker fired HK P30 for half the price.. Trust me if you get the chance to pick one up and handle it, go for it! Its ergos will blow you away... Then ask if you can dry-fire it and the trigger will blow you away again

Any police trade-in 9mm would be a good bet. They can be had for $400 or less. If you want to stick with the same caliber you have now, get a Ruger Blackhawk or Vaquero, solid revolvers and the polished stainless Vaquero looks as good as it shoots!

I had a S&W model 36 years ago. It made a great carry gun when I had a permit. There are tons of accessories available for it from grips to holsters.
Mine was a square butt which I liked better than round butt J frames.

Here is a site to help with your decision.:innocent0

A nice Beretta is hard to beat, you don't strike me as a glock type of guy. What about a SIG? They can be found used for a decent price. I don't really like to plan too far in advance for purchases. I usually end up changing my mind so many times.

Oddly, I had been trying to remember that site. Had it bookmarked on my old PC and had been looking for it.
