Young does are easier to drag out of the woods too.
remrug,My wife and I spent 5 days last week in Garrett Co. We saw more deer in the road ,crossing the road, about to cross , or just did in 5 days than I have all year in Carroll Co. Quite a few had fawns with them also. Had one run right in front of me and it was a close call. Had to stop completely on a few to allow them to get out of the road. It was unsettling to say the least.
I am staying out of Garrett during the rut. My heart wont take it

Got it done tonight! Been a long road, since 2019 that ive shot a deer.
But anyhow she saw me in stand and took off about 20yds into trees. Then suck back around for a prime shot. I hit her a little high but got her lung and clipped liver. She went maybe 20yds from where i shot her!
The two main reasons why I huntThanks all! Still an adrenaline rush seeing deer you are about to shoot! So that part still is fun and meat will be in freezer
yup!!The two main reasons why I hunt
This was real mild not gamey at allVenison is all about cooking with the spice...
Its lean meat so go heavy on Anizonn, salt, peper, and whatever you like
Spike it up for the like.
Venison doesn't need anything. A good smoke and its ready to eat.Venison is all about cooking with the spice...

To each there own...Venison doesn't need anything. A good smoke and its ready to eat.
Now, if the meat was not cared for, then yes you will get a gamey taste.
An old adage I believe in: You can't cook the gaminess out of venison, only cook it into it.This was real mild not gamey at all
