My wife and I spent 5 days last week in Garrett Co. We saw more deer in the road ,crossing the road, about to cross , or just did in 5 days than I have all year in Carroll Co. Quite a few had fawns with them also. Had one run right in front of me and it was a close call. Had to stop completely on a few to allow them to get out of the road. It was unsettling to say the least.

I am staying out of Garrett during the rut. My heart wont take it
    remrug,

I am seeing a boat load, of deer just about every day/evening.

I drive from Arbutus area across 695 past Stevenson Road and down to the Greenspring Ave exit. They are inside the sound barrier walls and feeding right next to the shoulder of the highway. Also see them on the GSpring off ramp. Then as I get off and ready to turn onto Old Court, I see them in people's yards. Continue on down Old Court past the Park School and they are all over the lush yards. By the time I get to Falls Rd and up against the Power lines near The Valley Inn, I see them there too.

Mostly between the hours of 430-8 PM

Haha, Funny thing is I got this urge to make sure I was carrying today. Being 3/4 a mile back on the peninsula on the farm. I am closer tot he neighbors on the other side of the creek, but 60' or more down a hill and long ways off through woods to the farm houses. No one would hear me scream if attacked.

Got it done tonight! Been a long road, since 2019 that ive shot a deer.

But anyhow she saw me in stand and took off about 20yds into trees. Then suck back around for a prime shot. I hit her a little high but got her lung and clipped liver. She went maybe 20yds from where i shot her!

Venison is all about cooking with the spice...

Its lean meat so go heavy on Anizonn, salt, peper, and whatever you like
Spike it up for the like.

Venison doesn't need anything. A good smoke and its ready to eat.

Now, if the meat was not cared for, then yes you will get a gamey taste.

This was real mild not gamey at all
An old adage I believe in: You can't cook the gaminess out of venison, only cook it into it.

Will, I know you and your family have eaten lots of venison. If anyone knows how to cook it, you do(or your wife:D).
