I can't seem to find any public posting on the internet, but Arundel Mills Mall appears to be deploying an armed security guard with a K9 trained in explosive detection.

It also appears after the little negligent shooting incident last year the dog will also be used to detect CCWs. I suspect after SB1 goes into effect, the mall will attempt to enforce a no CCW trespass with security.

Just an FYI for those who frequent.

I don't really go to Arundel Mills mall to much anymore. That place is just trying to stay afloat. Only thing keeping it going is the casino and Bass Pro.

Pretty sure they cannot ask you for ID. Maybe they call the assigned mall cop over to do it. Gonna be a lot of non armed citizens the dogs will hit on and their handlers will be asking them to leave the property. I have no issue being the first case after October 1.

I haven't been inside a mall(unless it was on a job) in at least 30 years.

You should definitely stop in one every couple years. Just to see the changes and how people try to keep relevant a bygone era. Frederick is a ghost town.

Arundel Mills looks like the Raven’s fantasy football league having a meet up, but be warned, keep yours eyes peeled for a fight to break out.

I liken malls to DC. I'm only going there if I'm being paid to be there. Otherwise...

Was at A. Mills Mall the other day as I took wife and g'daughter school shopping. Went into the men's room by the food court. Much to my surprise was a needle disposal unit in the wall. Glad I was carrying.

How do you know the K9 is trained in that? Or are you guessing?

I don't think that will work unless the dog is trained to alert to Hoppe's #9.

    ****They haven't gotten any better.
Believe you-me, the only mall I've been(worked) in, in the years past, was Tyson's II, and it was scary(to me) at 9am. Of course, I was working in a Rollex store. There was an armed guard on dudy at all times.
I might put a pinch of titegroup in my pocket and go trolling.
I knew you were trouble, when first I laid eyes on you. :)

I know of no K9 passive detection capabilities for firearms. Frankly with all the food in the mall, anything short of directed search for explosives or drugs would be unlikely to succeed. If it's truly vaporwake than the mall is spending a lot of money to look for bombs.
