Does anyone own a BP cannon? I have 2, a small 22 cal mortar and a 72 cal larger one. Want to talk about your hobby?

I have a .50 cal traditions cannon. I've only fired flaming paper towel balls out of it. It's a lot of fun on the 4th, New Years, etc. I do want a larger one but haven't found one in my budget yet.

I have a .45 caliber "old ironsides" naval cannon replica, which I've owned since I was in my teens (1970's). It sees service almost every new year's eve. My usual charge is 50 grains of 3F, with a paper towel wad over it to hold it in place and ensure a complete burn. It makes a satisfyingly loud boom.

My dad has been making these small ones for the family. .50 cal. My dad also picked the bigger one up from Dixie gun works recently, 3/4 scale napoleon. He and my cousin still need to do the carriage yet.

Here is a picture of my largest so far. The smaller one is my son's cannon.

Had a few over the years, including full scale. None now though. Hoping to pick up a full scale in the not too distant future. Used to do re-enactments, lots of fun!

Those are some cute little cannons. Got a 36# one at work, but I am always stuck doing the less desirable duties.

So these little cannons are ok to shoot off on your own property?
You won't be charged for discharging a firearm or something like that?
I'm tempted to get one now.
