Patton was in a car wreck, and died from his injuries.
( The circumstances of the wreck weren't fully investigated at the time, and can't be at this remove.)
From the historical, stratigic viewpoint, Patton was a brillient general. Men who served under him in WWII told me he could be a prick.
Eisenhower was following the orders of his Commander in Chief.
The most charitable interpetation of FDR in this context is he was solely focused on defeating the Nazi's . Less favorable would be to point out his socialist and dictatorial tendencies.
Sure... Pick on the guy when he's dead...
