Patton was in a car wreck, and died from his injuries.

( The circumstances of the wreck weren't fully investigated at the time, and can't be at this remove.)

From the historical, stratigic viewpoint, Patton was a brillient general. Men who served under him in WWII told me he could be a prick.

Eisenhower was following the orders of his Commander in Chief.

The most charitable interpetation of FDR in this context is he was solely focused on defeating the Nazi's . Less favorable would be to point out his socialist and dictatorial tendencies.

Sure... Pick on the guy when he's dead... :innocent0

You con not change history by removing it. I heard the reasoning behind the decision, either way, it was the right call.

He asked the teacher if Patton was killed because he hated Russia and Roosevelt and Eisenhower were early socialists. My son wanted to know why Patton wasn't allowed to continue into Russia.
My father served in the occupation in Heidelberg under Patton and hunted with him a few times. As for Patton's opinions they were just that. Russians bore the brunt of the effort in Europe. No way the Allies could make much headway against the colossal manpower the Russian armies had. A couple of A-bombs would not make much difference as we had no production capacity for them that soon. Any decent military historian will tell you that its likely that Zhukov could have pushed the Allies back to the Rhine if they so chose. Russian industry in the Urals was still churning out military supplies at a great rate even as the war ended in Europe. Not as much as us but we were supplying all our Allies to boot.
Patton recognized who our new enemies really were, but not what we could do about it. Same thing Churchill also knew.
As for Patton's death who knows. Its convenient to yell conspiracy but in 95% of cases its just coincidence. There were no seat belts in those days and data has shown that people can get killed in crashes as slow as 12 MPH under those conditions. As for Roosevelt and Eisenhower opinions vary.

But history can be changed. It is happening in all the schools now. Had to have my son swapped to a different history teach in the 10th grade because the teacher refused to answer my son's question. My son was/is an avid history buff. The teacher was wrong. They teach leftist history and want to remove anything to do with the civil war, slaves and racism from the U.S. Sad but true. A lot of the wiki pages have been changed to reflect this, complete chapters in history books erased or removed.

Is this what Germany does ref. Hitler?
